FWIW, I'm not a shill for Race Tech - I've just got a thing for good suspension and the RTCE's are the most cost-effective mod for these old damping rod front ends.

HD`s are cool, but i like everything with motors in it  ;D And what looks bad from the factory can be modified to look good... (not saying that a CB550 does, but there are many other ugly ducklings out there that REALLY need modifications).
I trial fitted the tank, but no luck with a direct fit. So what needs to be done is to relocate and make new front mounts, and relocate the coils a little.
I also got myself some absolutly badasss sparkplug wires today. Real oldschool look! Pics to come :)

Btw, the dragbike in one of my photos is actually a pre european recordholder in pro-stock from the early 80's.
I have a picture of it from 1980 when the owner and builder is racing against Terry Vance (Vance & Hines)! Bike was shipped over to the US to race there. But im not sure im allowed to upload the pic here as im not the owner of it....
Its a Suzuki GS1000, with heads prepped by V&H, and some nice mods. Its a beast to ride, and we had to few runs on the strip to learn how to really ride her (you gotta be tough in the start).
Tested it on an unprepped dragstrip the first time, and jeeeeeez...!! Scary run with 300 meters of rubber.

Whats the happs any pics of the tare down?? Or are you still flip flopping on which one to dissect?

No pics yet JT, and not done anything yet. Im moving into a new house, and have to much to think about these days. But im on it pretty soon now.
Heading for inspection on the 29.march, and after that i`ll start working on it for real  ;D

Finally! Spring is coming to town!! ;)
I got down to my tiny chop and testet all the electrical stuff like lights, blinkers etc. (everything worked). So now the only thing i need to do is to fire it up and do a testdrive before heading to inspection in less than two weeks.
And if that goes smooth.................................................. REBUILDING  ;D ;D ;D

Fired the old lady today. Had problems to start with, but after a little fuel change with fresh fuel, it took only a few cranks.
Sounds pretty good, and cant tell there is anything wrong at all with her.
Next thing i have to do is dig myself out of there...as you can see we had much snow this winter. But spring is here, and it melts fast.



Oh and yes, anyone know if there is possible to get smaller coilspacks?? I really want to throw on that orange tank, but the coils are just a little to wide for the tunnel.. Not many places to relocate them either. Would have have to rebuild the tunnel maybe.

Just a few more parts ordered today. New pods, brakepads rear/front, and points/condenser.
Really looking forward to get the bike approved next week (crossing my fingers it will be)..

Noligey also makes a nice tiny dual lead pack, mostly used on vintage race bikes from what I know.. And the dyna are mostly copies of them, but still good...

Thanks guys! Havent seen those before. Seems like a good option. Only thing is - would it be wrong to use these 3 ohm coils on my stock ignition?

Put the Cafè seat on the bike just to get some ideas... looks stupid with the taillight and fender etc on there, but i might think about using it on this one. Otherwise it goes on the other bike...

..you Danish guys dont have THAT much snow, so i guess it melt faster  ;)
We are talking 100cm ++, even down here close to Oslo. But good to hear spring is coming to you too!  :)
If someone need a helmet or two up here in the north, let me know... Bubble shield is harder to get though. Regret i didnt buy more and in different colors when i had the chance. I got one more in grey. They where NOS shields at just a few $$ each.

Bike got approved today!!! That made me really happy, nothing can stop me now  ;D
Actually that kicked me in the ass and made me start working right away.
Took the wheels off and delivered them to my favourite local backyard motorcycle shop to mount the new Firestone tires, and i started to cut the rear end off imideatly. My only concern now is that i dont have a 1" tube/pipe to make the rear loop of. Got damn local steelshop doesnt have 1".. A fried has, but he is of course on vacation  >:( :D
UPS also showed up today with my new head and taillight, new grips, and a smooth tiny alu fender.

Since i dont have the time for a full build-up before this season (blasting frame, paint etc), im doing a partially rolling rebuild. Then i can strip it down when the winter hits us again.
Wheels back on... next thing will be the loop and a seatpan. Found a piece of tubeing, and a stainless plate so i can start working on it..

Haha, no...actually it didnt came out the way i hoped for because the tunnel is to narrow, so i'll skip it in the first round, then keep working on it later.
Didnt manage to make the rear loop as i wanted either, so i guess i end up buying one. Want to have it as soon as possible so i can keep working in the seat.
Look at the cool sticker i got from wrenchmonkees...haha ;D

Had to order the loop from Dime City. Dont have time to do any building this week, so i guess i can wait a week or so..
Anyway, had her out for a little ride again, but she sure needs tuning. I guess replacements of points, condensers, new plugs and wires - and a good carb cleaning/rebuilding will help.
