I've watched them a little through the years, but one thing I don't get... what's with the corks hanging from the brims of the hats when they do the Australian bits?

Used to watch every night back in  the 80's, hilarious then funny  now. I think it may have been more funny then due to some odd smoke in the room ;).  If anyone has a link to the lumberjack skit, give it a post...Larry

The corks were a thing from back in the day when the were settling the interior of the country, they were to keep the flies away from your face, because the flies out west will just about pick you up and carry you away, there is that many of them.
