Plugging away (What ARE chops?)
« on: January 16, 2011, 05:41:57 PM »

This is my blog, and this is an excerpt from the latest post. New stuff, check it out!

My brother called the other day.

“Hey, I'm going to Europe. Is there anything I should know?” he asked.

Chad wants my opinion because I'm the family 'expert.' I flew to Europe on two separate occasions, which makes me Magellan. Chad has traveled, when he was as a toddler, our dad drove the family to visit our grandparents in Mesa, Arizona. I think the 'active' pace of retirement-town living left a lasting impression on the boy. He's meticulous and slow to action. It's gained him the name 'Chops,' short for 'pussy chops.'

Haven't read the entire link yet but understand this...wrenching is a close to nirvana experience in most cases. If it's not that way for you then you need to settle down. Convince your other half of this and you will achieve nirvana. Huh ??? I can't believe I just wrote that. Achieve nirvana on your own and you will find other like minded people. Oh crap!! I can't believe I just said that either. Okay, I gotta get outta here...sorry pal, you're on your own. Apparently the cocktails are starting to take control. ;) ;D ;D

There is a rather jackass notion that a brush with death somehow brings life into focus. Adrenaline junkies use this excuse to jump off of all manner of things. The whole idea is total bull#$%* – until you drop your bike in traffic because the clown in front of you decides to save a squirrel. A wink from 'The Reaper' really does come with a dose of clarity.

Apparently not enough clarity.  It seems to me that if this scenario actually happened to this dude, he's in a bit of denial.  What I would take from this situation is that I should not tailgate anyone ever again.  If a squirrel, or a Grandma, or stopped traffic make the guy in front of you slam on the brakes, and you are in danger of hitting him, you are too close.

Thanks for the comments. The squirrel is a device for the close calls we all have, whether they're our fault or not.

Yep. Squirrels are an excuse for being squirrely.

This isn't that exorbitantly overpriced scotch is it? I heard about this stuff... That is about the strangest picture I've seen.

Thanks Dusthawk, glad to know people enjoy it.

Thanks, also, Flopshot. There are some zany links out there to metal flake helmets that are pretty retro-fantastic. I used to have one in orange, maybe you should check into that.

Have you forgotten how to start a new thread?  The subject has TOTALLY changed about three times, and comments regarding the first one are still here, and no longer make any sense.. Why?

Etiquette I learned from other forums. Don't start a new thread when one already exists. The blog continues to be updated, this thread is only to notify people of that fact. If everyone prefers a new thread each time, I don't mind.

While you are treating it as a blog, it is a thread.  I belong to 14 effing forums, and this is not SOP in any of them.  Do what you want, but you're confusing people new to the thread. Comments made on the original subject no longer make sense.
