New member from Missouri
« on: January 16, 2011, 06:37:07 PM »
Hey all.  I've been lurking for a couple of weeks, picking up some good info-thought it's time to jump in and introduce myself.  I picked up a pretty good CB550 K0 last week and have lots to learn.  I'll post a picture as soon as I learn how.  It looks and runs good except for the nonstandard seat, which will be the first thing to go.  I'm not really a biker but have been tinkering with cranky old cars for the past 30 years or so.  My interest in bikes comes and goes, but this one was too good to pass up.  Here's hoping that this one will stick around and be my new favorite.

Hi Greg, thanks.  And good luck to you too, with your resurrection.  If you happen to know about a standard seat available for a '74 550K model, let me know.  Even a rebuildable one would be ok if the price is right.  I'll be looking around locally and hope to find one eventually.  Have you been to the Mungenast MC museum down on Gravois?  If not, you must go asap. It's thoroughly and completely cool.  Check out

Yes, I have been to the Dave Mungenast museum! It's a neat little place, I need to go again to get a closer look at their CB750's. I see your in Jeff City, next time your in St. Louis check out Triumph Grill on Olive. The owner has a museum, a banquet hall with motorcycles in cubby hole things in the walls, a motorcycle themed resturant AND a Triumph/Ducatti dealership. The place is awesome! The only thing that would make it better is (of course) if it was named CB Grill!  ;D
I have some pics in my camera, when I get them on the computer, I'll post them.
