4-in-1 exhaust and oil filter

hello,

I bought my 78 750f with 4-in1 exhaust. I guess it is a stock one. It has honda stamped on it. The funny part that I cannot change an oil filter unless I take out exhaust from one of the cylinder. I think this was not an original idea...

any thoughts what is wrong with my bike?

Its a Honda  :D. Seriously, it sounds like a typical piece of Japanese engineering. You wanna see the loops I have to jump through to change the tacho cable on my CX.

Hmmm.. I'm a bit more skeptical. After seeing the way the exhausts on other Honda models have been contorted to clear the oil filter housing, I'm wondering if you have an exhaust off another Honda bike.

Anyway, it's a thought.

It may have Honda stamped on it but that doesn't necessarily mean it's an OEM item.  Does it have a part number stamped on it "HMxxx" for example.

The 4-1 Honda exhausts always allowed changing of the oil filter - something that the aftermarket manufacturers (or designers) were not so particular about.

That was my first thought as well. My new (ha, ha, ha.... new...) KZ550 has a Yamaha Exhaust that looks stock. You woudn't know unless you saw the "Yamaha" stamp on it

Here are a couple of pics of my stock 4-1exhaust on my 76' 750:

In the first pic, the filter housing looks kind of hidden away behind the pipes, but in the second pic, you can see there is plenty of room behind the pipes to work with (pehaps not after a nice long ride, though... without letting it cool off first.)
