I purchased my '74 CB750K a few years ago and have rode it a bit. It's always been my second or third bike. Here's what it has looked like the past two years
Unfortunately last summer it started to run horribly. It's never been jetted correctly since I've owned it. I've improved it greatly but it was never right. Then the last few time I rode it the oil pressure was starting to drop and then the coils went out and it would no longer start.
So after viewing some other builds and thinking a lot I have decided to tear the bike down and do a complete build up on the bike. I had originally wanted to build it into a cafe racer but kept with the bobber look. I have another motorcycle to ride so I'm ready now to start on the old CB.
I spent an hour or so starting to take it apart today.
About half way through. I still need to drain the motor and get my jack fixed so I can get the bike down to frame.
As of now I want to put a modern front end on the bike, probably off a late model GSXR. Rebuild the motor, build a cafe tail section and tank.
I'm liking the idea of a big bore kit and dual carb conversion. And relocating battery and electronics to the tail section.
I've started on what will hopefully be a fun journey. I expect it to take a while and try the limits of my patience, skills and wallet. But that's a project.
