Paint rear brake pedal?
« on: January 19, 2011, 11:19:39 AM »
The rear brake pedal on my '76 750F has some rust on it. Thinking about painting it to keep the rust at bay. For the shaft that's fine, but I figure that the textured part where your foot actually contacts the pedal would wear off pretty quickly. Any suggestions as to what to use? I was thinking about that spray-on rubber stuff.. might hold up a little better?
If it's worth doing, it's worth doing twice.

I've got sort of the same problem, my brake pedal and shift lever are all ate up with rust.  I think I'm just going to have them sand blasted and powder coated, maybe in an aluminum color to match the engine cases.  I was thinking about doing the same thing to the foot-peg mounting brackets which are pretty ugly on my bike too.

I used POR15 on both the brake pedal & shifter. Still holding up fine. They have a starter kit for around $50. Found it on Ebay. It includes two paints. One if for use where UV light will hit. Hope it helps. 2 small cans(about a pint total) did the frame, shifter, brake pedal, fork lowers, & triple clamp.
