Welcome to the site.

What we're looking at is a 75 or 76 CB750F. 75's are CB750F-1xxxxxx while 76's are CB750F-2xxxxxx

Not to douse your flame but that would be one helluva difficult project. Could cost you a bundle after you buy it. I'd call it rough at best or a parts bike/engine donor. Perhaps an engine and frame for a cafe I'd say, nothing more. I have a 72 engine sitting in my garage that was purchased for $200. That engine would need to turn and not be frozen for any chance to really consider doing anything with it. You can find sorta decent bikes for $1000 or less that run. There are a couple on EBay now that have decent prices. Just my opinion.

The engine is seized from sittin. I was wantin a 750 mainly for the rear disc brakes. Im also considerin this 550, but it seemed to me that there are more options for work on the 750s

you would be on either one of those bikes for a long while getting them right.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

I would grab that 750 for the parts but only if it was really cheap...

$200 for the 750, $350 for the 550. The guy is supposed to have the missing engine pieces for the 550. I plan to get a fiberglass tank and seat combo from benjies for whichever bike i buy. So the body isnt a huge concern for me. As far as I can tell those prices for either of those bikes is pretty low when compared to bikes that actually run.

My 73 750 was $350, came with a title, was complete, the engine was froze but it didn't take more than about 3 hours to get it unstuck..and it looked a whole lot better then either of those..my Virago was $300 wasn't froze, came with a title, was complete and actually looked pretty good also, had the hard to find battery side cover, a carb rebuild and electrical contact cleaning got it on the road...both of those look like $100 parts bikes to me. On the other hand, if you're looking for a ground-up project, thats about as close to the ground as you can get..I'd look around the house for some crap you don't want any more and work out a trade....
