CB550K Spokes
« on: January 24, 2011, 12:41:39 PM »
Reading one of the discussion threads here, I read of a source for affordable replacement spokes. Unfortunatly, it was for a CB750. I have a CB550.

Do we have anyone we can get affordable spokes for a CB550K? I find it hard to swallow for the prices of spokes out there. Are you freaken kidding me? $100.00 for a set of spokes? I don't think so.

I see them on eBay, but would prefer to buy from someone that others have purchased from, so I have a better idea of the quality of what I am getting.

Watch out for those eBay spokes. I bought a set and they weren't even close...  :(

I'm pretty happy with the set I got from http://www.buchananspokes.net/  Yes, they cost $100 for the set, but they aren't crap either!  They produce a quality product and as an American company, they deserve our support.  If you drive the quality folks out of business, then the only options left will be... well... CRAP!

If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

The front 750 spokes WILL work on your 550...the ones from partsnmore anyway.

The rears sometimes do and sometimes don't...the rear's did not work for me and I sold them for more then I paid for them on ebay.

My suggestions is:
Buy 750 front wheel spokes from partsnmore.com
Buy 550 rear spokes from buchanan

Partsnmore is 30 a set, and buchanan is around 90.

$120 a set is not all that bad IMO.

+1

I invested in these for my ironhead wheels. Chrome is very high quality!

Sounds a little hypocritical as we ride on Japanese bikes and bash American bikes.

The eBay spokes claim they are Japanese made. Not sure. I WISH I could find affordable spokes for my 550. Actually I wish I could trash the F_____g junk spokes and get some good wheels.

David Silver is located on the North East side of the Atlantic Ocean. I am located on the Western side of the Atlantic. At a cost of 20 GBP to ship my items too me, the cost is too much.

Then, to add insult to injury, they do noy carry spokes for the rear wheel on my '78 CB550K.

I don't bash on American bikes or parts. I own 2 American bikes, 2 American cars and I shop at good old American walmart!  :o
I do enjoy jap bikes too, but I would much rather support my economy when I buy new parts, or new vehicles.

Keep bashing the harley's but have you even ridden one? (A real harley before the AMC days) I am kidding about walmart too. I avoid the store at all costs!

They don't list a 78 as its identical to a 77 mate

I have not ridden a pre-AMF Harley, but I have ridden some newer models. I love them and will own one some day. I am refering to other members here that hate anything H-D. I am not a fan about Wal-Mart either. I avoid that store the best I can.

I know. It sucks. I was going to buy a set of rear spokes from them.

If someone here has done this and the spokes work fine, I would love to hear because I would buy a set.

Go to

http://www.motogrid.com/pages/parts/viewbybrand/7/default.aspx

And look up the part number for what you want then copy and paste the part number into the quick look up on the RH side of the linked page and it will tell you every Honda that part number was used on.

I would do it for you but

(1) i aint got the time

(2) if i do it you dont learn how to
