Well, There was the time I had to wear shoes with metatarsal covers and it got caught on the peg, the loose gravel time, my sister in law tipped my brothers bike onto mine, tank slapper leading to a high side on a blacktop edge where the pavement went higher, wet grass on a hillside, Nothing in what I refer to as my modern era. oh yeah, multiflora rosebush and a suzi 250 climbing a hill.

My first bike was a BMW K100.  Big heavy #$%*er.  I dropped that thing everywhere and always at low speed.  The last time I dropped it, I was turning around in a guys driveway.  We fell over and I went flying ass over teakettle in to a tumble roll since it was on a hill while, the homeowner who was mowing grass watched my folly.  I was embarrassed and hurt from the tumble.  I sold that mess real quick and bought a CB750F. I'm glad I did.

A few years ago i had a 99 gsx750f which i loved and should of kept, anyway i advertised it for sale. A guy and a girl came over to look at it and the bike was for her, i wasn't going to let her test ride it so i took her for a ride on the back and all went good. She said if i cant test ride it i wont buy it, i had a bad feeling as she wasn't that tall or heavy but cause i wanted to sell it i let her ride it up the street as she turned she dropped it and scratched up the fairing. I was angry with her and myself, she didn't buy it but did pay for the damage.    Probably best thing is don't let people ride your bike if you have doubts.

When you are buying from an individual,  you will have to hand full amount of cash to the owner when you request test ride here. It has become an etiquette.  A lot of bike has been damaged or stolen by test riders... Good that at least the ho paid for the damage. Including the labor fee, right?

That's a good idea handing over the money before they ride, the annoying thing was i was selling it because i needed the money and when she dropped it i couldn't re-advertise for a few weeks till all got fixed. Still it's a lesson learned for me. :)

Wow as if I wasn't paranoid enough about my freshly painted tank and side cvoers, you guys are scaring the bejeezuz out of me! I decided to use the center stand most of the time. It doesn't take much to put the bike up and it's way more stable. Already replaced mirrors, signals, and other things because this bike has already been down a few times.

I'm glad to know that I'm not the only person doing all of this stupid crap. I'll be a little less red in the face next time with the comfort that I'm not alone in my folly.

It makes me feel better that other people admit to having this happen to them.  Once after parking my chop in it's usual spot in the shop I went to close the door, then heard an odd sound looked over where I should have seen the reflector in the taillight and didn't.  Walked over to find out that had rolled foward and closed the kickstand.  Broken clutch lever and a scraped up alt cover was what I ended up with.  Second time I was rolling into my apt complex down the big leaf covered hill.  I usually swung wide to avoid the speed bump, however this time I waited too long and the front wheel bounced off the side of the bump and slid on the leaves.  Good thing it was only my CL350 (not too heavy) got up picked up the bike looked around (no one else was around), and walked it to it's spot man did feel stupid that day. :-[

I was just at the NY motorcycle show and there was a demo area for Harley where they let me pick up their bike with the 'proper technique' of sitting back against the seat and pushing it up on the wheels.

I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

I also forget to put the damn thing up after forgetting to put it down.  Damned if I do . Damned if I don't.

+1.  I've done that a number of times.  Was flagged down by a car one time..
