I dropped my bike.

Has anyone besides me thought that their side stand was down and leaned their bike over, when i realised the stand was still up it was too late i couldn't hold the weight and over it went. All i thought was my tank my tank, as it cost plenty to buy and paint. I couldn't believe it not one mark, only a bent mirror and a broken indicator lense. Hopefully that was the first and last time that happens.

Been there, done that. I Dragged my first pride and joy, a Honda Transalp, round the back of the house to where the outside tap is. the ground was covered in coarse gravel, put the side stand down, jumped off, went to the shed and BANG!  the side stand sunk into the ground, dropping the bike. I could have wept.

Oh yes,  I have done that.  Hasn't happened lately but I feel your pain! 

The show off in me likes to ride to a stop and put the side stand down just as the bike comes to a stop.  Then the feet can be on the pegs when the bike is leaned over coming to rest on the side stand.  Smart? No, but I still do it sometimes.  If the stand isn't all the way down I find myself wrestling to keep from dumping it on the side.   :-\

I just about layed my bike down in a parking lot last year thinking the stand was down. I realized when I was hopping off I felt the weight of the bike lean into my leg. I caught it. But I pulled about every muscle in my groin and leg. It's hard to look cool when you're walking with a limp and holding your junk  :'(

A friend told me a good story once, he had his missus on the back of his CB750/4 he pulled up at the lights and went to put his left foot down, he had boots or shoes with laces and they got caught around his foot peg or gear changer and over they went, at least when i fell off my bike it was in the garage. It must run in my family my son has a CB500, he decided to kick start it and he some how cracked his newly painted side cover.

I don't know, i did send them a picture about 6 months ago but didn't get any feedback and haven't seen or heard anything so i would be surprised if it was.

If it makes you feel any better when a guy does that with a Harley Davidson he's gotta call a $%^&*! tow truck to pick it back up for him!  ;D

Well I dropped my bike 2 or 3 times during my summer trip while putting it on the center stand.  I never ever use the side stand as the bracket is slightly bent, causing the bike to lean waaaayyy too much for comfort.
During my trip I had two plastic boxes mounted to the bike and a top box, so lots of extra weight.  The thing is I had just got prescription sunglasses before leaving and I wasn't 100% used to them yet.  They threw my depth perception off ever so much, causing me to misjudge the levelness of the ground.  So one time in the Ozarks I hopped off and went to lift the bike onto the stand and it went right over.  Broke the tip off the clutch lever, knocked loose the banjo bolt on the master, but no other damage luckily.
 Once it started tipping the other way it was impossible for me to pull it back up!  This happened one other time that I remember, so I had the girl start standing on the other side just to make sure it would stay level.

I still think that at least $1 should go to the forum for everytime someone drops their bike.  The other forum I am with does this (all voluntary) but send $5.

I almost dropped mine at a traffic stop last year. I was wearing some semi-baggy jeans and when riding the right pant leg went over the kick start lever. At the light I tried to put my right foot down after my left was down and the whole bike started to go with it. Took all my strength to rip my jeans up the seam so I didn't drop it. I'm sure the car next to me was wondering what I was doing.  ;D

Thanks for sending the photo through, I've modified the frame since then and i don't know what i was thinking with that home made side cover. Im glad i dropped that as well.

Broke my foot in three places leaving the kickstand down once.  Yea, the 400-4 ended up landing on my foot.

The other day I was backing my snow blower in the garage and I backed into my dirtbike which fell over on to the front fender of my Concours.  Dirtygirl is fine but Connie needs a new fender.   >:( >:(

I have seen a couple of bad accidents caused by this, we actually chased a friend who had taken off with his side stand down, the first left hander he came to high sided him right in front of us.....NOT GOOD...

This past summer I parked me ZRX on the grass.....nothing was damaged but my pride. My 5 year old snapped the pics, laughing all the while.

my wife told me how a girl at her work rides a motorbike and she came out and it was upside down,they went back through security cameras and a drunk guy by himself had been sitting on it pretending to ride and fell over on it,he then put it upside down and staggered off.
