I wanted to see the Triumph offerings.  Since they were not going to be there, I didn't go.  I have a dealer that handles all the Japanese brands 3 minutes from my house so no reason to go.  Also a H-D dealer 10 minutes away.  Maybe they figure not that many people in this area have the extra change to spend on a new bike.

I asked the guy at the info desk and he said it was a "market" decision for the various brands to ignore the Michigan MC shoppers because they don't sell enough here........ yeah, especially in January! I have an idea that this recession has hit Michigan harder than a lot of other places.

They would do better if the show was in the springtime and even better if they offered demo rides. Yamaha DID give me a postcard offering a demo ride, somewhere, sometime.

I also noted that Progressive and not Cycle World was the main sponsor.

And... I had a nice chat with Jonesy at the VJMC display.  :)

Did you see the retro 750 shadow styled as a 305 scrambler?

In early 80's I used to go to a huge indoor winter swap meet
at the State fairgrounds on Woodward.
A real festival--loud, almost out of control--it seemed.
Got some great stuff that I still use.
Ebay ended all that, I guess.

Yeah, but when you go to the dealer they pester you.  ;D  Thanks for the info.  I talked to a guy at the Downriver Cruise that had a new Triumph Scrambler.  He started it up and it was very smooth running.  No dancing around on the center stand like my BSA.  Leave it running in the driveway and your liable to find it in the street.  :o

triumph dealer

My son has been ogling the Thruxton and he went to the show with me with hopes of sitting on one. But we were both disappointed when Triumph wasn't at Novi. So I stopped by Triumph Detroit yesterday at lunchtime and they gave me a poster that Junior will appreciate.

I kind of wondered about this gadget between the 2nd and 3rd fins. Is it a vibration dampener?
