I’m in the middle of taking apart and cleaning my carburetors and fuel tank. While I’m at it I’d like to simply take apart the air box and give it a good cleaning, however I’ve run into yet another shining example of Honda engineering (see attached). Instead of a simple nut and washer some brainiac decided to put some sort of threaded collar and the end of the two bolts keeping the two halves of the upper box together.
I can get them started with a 10-mm wrench and some pliers but the collar quickly binds, as those it‘s some sort of weird one-way thread. Is this maybe some sort of tampering deterrent? More importantly, is there a way to get these off other than cutting the bolt?
Honda sure does some screwball stuff.
