Anybody ever use EL wire? Do you think it'll hold up?

i watched some stuff on a make magazine video about this stuff do you think it would hold up? does any body have any expierience with it?

I played with that stuff about 10 years ago to highlight the interior of a car. Stuff seemed very durable but it wasn't on the outside. What I hated about it was that it came in XX Feet which you cut to length. If you only needed 10% of it, the other 90% was useless cause it didn't have the end attached. Never tried to splice it but I assume it's possible.
