If you've got $600 a month to spend on the bike theres no reason why you shouldnt keep the 750.....especially if all it needs is a headlite and ring. The wiring can be figured out.

I started with a $200 beater bike. All I had to spend on it to get it running was the cost of a new set of plugs. It had wiring issues but it ran. Then with the help of all the nice folk on here I got them sorted out.

All Im saying is dont let a good bike go for a 79 650. Dont get had. Alot of people ....me included......would give their left nut for a early model 750.

Not counting the $200 initial purchase price.......I might have $300 in this bike........

Before.....

And after............

Looks nice...but...uhm...those pipes...wow!  I'd replace them.  It's like having a nice car with a different colored hood.  Some nice pipes would really make that think pop.  Of course I'd choose abother color too, but that is besides the point.  The pipes are bringing the finished product down.  You could probably find a decent set oln ebay, too.

In due time burris.......I dont have 600 a month to spend on my bike. I've got a Mac 4-1 in way better shape, I just need to find different bolts to mount it. The Kerker has countersunk Phillips head bolts...(the flanges on the Kerker are countersunk) going into the head while the Mac has slotted flanges. Gonna have to buy some hex head bolts. Anybody know what size they are....... M8, M10, M12 ???

Id rather have the Kerker. Was thinking about having it blasted then coated but it has seen its better days. Along with the rust.....it has been scrubbed under the bottom a few times. Believe me.....If I had 600 Id rather have a new chrome 4-1 Kerker.

There's almost nothing on a 750 that 600 bucks won't fix....except maybe a locked
engine and even then you can buy a used one for 200 or so.

And as someone said above....guard those plastic parts with your life. They are the
most valuable parts on the bike.....unless it has a prestine "wrinkle" tank.  Funny that
one side panel in good shape is worth more then the whole engine.  ::)

well, I sold both my running cb650's after trying to keep them on the road cost too much time.
Seems something was always going wrong on them.

Evryone I know whom has had one has had nothing but problems. Fix the cb750 or get some
guys off this board to come over and bang it into shape.

Just my 2 cents worth,
you won't be sorry.

Whatever you do don't trade it for a running 650. I can tell from the picutres that you have enough "sandcast" parts on that bike that you could buy 2 or 3 running 650s for the money you'd get off e-bay. Believe me I know as I have to buy the parts! :(

I know what you mean about the money.  I've got a bike I am working on, but it seems like the job is moving very very slowly.

This is a no brainer. Like Andy750 says, parts alone are worth more than the CB650. That bike should be registered as 1969 model. The seat is post CB750K3 type but you can get a K1 type then change the covers for about $300. The original HM300 pipes would cost over $1000 but many get away with the cheaper HM341s. If I lived nearby, I'd give him two running CB650s.
1969 Honda CB750, two 1970 CB750, two 1972 CB750K2, 1971 CB500, 1975 CB550, 1976 CB400F, 1968 CL450, 1973 CL450, 1974 CB450, 1970 1/2 SL350K1, 1971 SL350K1, 1972 SL350K2, 1972 CL350, 1972 CB350, 1983 CB1000C, 1976 Kawasaki KZ900A4, 1976 KH500A8, 1979 KZ400B, 1983 ZN1300, and so on and so on...
