While I agree that name-brand hdmi cables are generally more expensive than they're worth, they're is actually a difference in different grades of cable.  

Sorry Gordon, but I have to completely disagree with you on this one (not that it makes a hill of beans   ).  I've been in the video industry professionally for 14 years.  But you don't have to take my word for it:

I'm not talking about shielding of the cable, or even quality.  I mean there are different types of hdmi cables that are designed to transmit more data and do so at varying lengths of cable.  But like domer said, if you're not plugging a super high-end video device into a super high-end home theater system and monitor, then you're not going to see any difference.

Yea but that will only be the independant ISP's, big guys are keeping their caps, that's the way I understand it but I could be wrong.
