I think I like the light. There is a chrome bezel that I forgot to take a picture of, in only the straight on picture would it have been visible.

The light is not actually installed at an angle, its just sitting in there with no screws.

What I do know about BCR is that they make the seats and then send them out for filler. I got a seat from Benjie and inquired part way through the transaction how long it would be and he told me it was out to another place for filler and primer. A lot of body guys will slather on a thick layer of filler to alleviate the texture difference between the filler and the metal so they only have to do one shot of primer. My seat is fiberglass and the top of it is very smooth but the bottom side is a little sloppy.

Well you will notice that I stripped the filler off the seat, and I am about to do the same with the tank.

I wonder if benjie has ever heard of an english wheel....or even a hammer. It looks like he pounded that out with a rock and a log.
Its going to look great after your finished with it.

The surface of the tank isnt too bad, most of the marks you see are either welds or areas with some grinding swirls. It shouldn't be too difficult to get that looking smooth. I was actually pretty happy when I saw the state of the metal for the tank.

The tank is ready for paint. The seat should be ready on Saturday. I added some rectangular stock to the inside of the seat to stiffen its sides. I felt that it was too easy to deform the sides since there is no body line or rolled edge there.

Currently I am trying to figure out how to protect the frame from the seat. On the section where you sit I am planning on putting some thin rubber between the seat and the frame. But towards the back of the seat, near the tail light, I am not sure how to isolate the seat from the frame. The seat has some ability to teeter since it is basically only attached in two places, there is a lip in the front and a bolt in the back. My current plan is to use some sort of rubber molding along the edge.

A bit late in the game for this, but:

1) Should I bother with a cam chain other than the oem one (which I already purchased)?
2) What is acceptable wear on the cam chain tensioner, I did not purchase a new one.

Just started following the build...looks great!

You mentioned the seat can teeter with a front and rear mount only. Have you considered tapping the frame and adding a couple flat head fasteners on each side under the seat pad? I've seen that recommended for the fiberglass seat pans....and you would still run your rubber or foam between the pan and frame. I will need to figure that out when I get to that stage on my build! You first, then I'll copy whatever works best!!

Unfortunately I didnt take any pictures of the tank before it was primed. But I will be completely honest here and say that it has somewhere between 60-70% plastic coverage. Now... this is a big improvement from the 100% coverage, and even a bigger improvement in terms of thickness. The max thickness right now is no more than a milimeter compared with nearly a centimeter removed from some places.

That is a great idea, I had not thought of that. I am going to make a slight modification to that idea and give it a shot (I dont really want to drill into or otherwise modify the frame, its already in primer). I'll post a pic and let you know how it goes.

I made a brake torsion bar today. For some reason I put primer on it even though I was planning on chroming it... not sure what I was thinking

Oh yeah, here is the tank in primer. It still needs to be sanded. My father is doing most of the paint and body work that goes along with the project.

So it is probably going to be months before I get this all finished.

I still havent put the pistons, cylinders, etc. on yet. If I do, should I do something special with the pistons/cylinders considering the amount of time that will pass from assembly until startup? I dont want all the oil dripping off the piston skirts while its sitting around.

I changed schools and decided I didnt want to go by my old nickname, which was included in my old screen name. My current screen name was supposed to be temporary, I used the IP I had at the time, that was around 14 years ago. At least I am assured to always get the same name.
