Did Ferodo screw the pooch on their new batch of Platinum brake pads?
If you look at the photo of the new Ferodo Platinum pad vs the EBC pad, can you see what I'm talking about? The inside or "dead" Ferodo pad is missing the "domed" part and is completely flat on the back! Is my understanding of how the CB brake geometry operates flawed in thinking that there needs to be a domed part (wether it be on the piston, or the pad) to enable these brakes to align and work properly?
I don't think I am; check out the second photo. See the wear, primarily on the leading edge? That is due to pad being static, ie having no movement, and is not dynamically centering at the rotor face.
The issue that spawned me taking a closer look at the pads initially, was briefly mentioned in another thread: brakes seemed to be dragging more than with the EBC pads.
So, my questions, then: Anybody else notice this about their older Ferodo pads? Did they mess up this new batch?
Or has the inside, "dead" pad always been completely flat on the back?
