Generally the high temp paint doesn't require a primer. "See reverse for details"
Sand down for adhesion only, you don't want to expose any more to rust, Dremil with wire brush to get into those "Hard to reach" places.
The one thing that I never seem to be able to do is give a light dusting of spray, walk away and give it a few more coats afterwards,....I'm brave...keep spraying, until I see the damn paint running, and I know better.
(it's not a coverage thing but an adhesion thing...light coats, light coats..)
The high temp paint usually requires heat to cure, So if they are gonna' be off for a while....stick 'em in the oven.(after dinner - not before)
