Suggestion for a different mount for parking sticker?
« on: March 28, 2006, 10:27:56 PM »
Recently picked up my parking pass for the local University.  Get the sticker for the moto and there is no indication for where it is to be mounted, I ask the clerk and she says on the windshield ::)

So anyway, I rigged up a mount, basically two pieces of lexan, a couple of #6 bolts and s L bracket, bent to nearly 45 degrees.  I can't decide if I like it or not, couldn't really think of anywhere else to mount it, and have it visibile, any suggestions?

Ugh... that's hideous.  I'm so sorry they made you put a big ugly blue tag on there.  At my school we just have a little sticker that goes on your license plate (only the cars get the big hanging-type tags).

Maybe it's possible to put it under a thick piece of dark cut plexiglass (or other dark translucent material), to hide the bright blue color but still have it visible.  Either that, or ask them if you can put it anywhere else on the bike since not all motorcycles have windshields.

I'm with Dan.  Put it on your license plate.  If they are going to ticket you, they are certainly going to look at your plate number, and ... well lookee there, a permit!

However, if you really like the idea of deflecting bugs into the helmet area, the current arrangement should be just grand. ;D

License plate would be good but if you get a Barny Fife type meter maid I'm sure in the "books" says to mount visably.   How bout on the back of a extra mirror?

get yourself a rubber coated clamp that will fit around your front downtube and mount your plate to that.
