I used modified CB750 pistons when I did mine
Kit's were not easily available in late 70's Britain

Try 605 kit for the 500, sometimes on ebay
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Remember "Its always in the last place you look" COURSE IT IS YOU STOP LOOKIN THEN!

Crazypj, yeah i'm looking for a complete kit, i'm not in the mood to bring pistons to a machineshop. What do you mean by britain??

bryanj, i've been looking on ebay but never found anything...maybe i'm just unlucky

 I mean I did mine in Britain, in 1978 (then rode the hell out of it for 70,000+miles.)

What do these two things have to do with each other?

/edit: also, there is only a 2.5mm difference between the bores of the 550 and 750, which I believe is within boring limits of the 550 sleeves.

 You have to fit liners for 1mm over 750 pistons, if I was doing it now I would get a CB750 block and remove liners then bore 500/550 block for oversize liners

While this sounds a bit odd to me, I believe that many people bor ethe 550 liners for 750 pistons, but rpelace 500 liners for 750 pistons.  Apperently they are different liners?

500 liners are thinner and won't bore to 61mm. 550 is OK at 61mm but won't 'take' 62mm without liner distorting when it gets hot.

put both blocks in oven, wait for clank when they get hot enough to release liners
 Let everything cool down and  measure inside of 750 block and bore 500/550 block to same size (or give it 0.003" smaller than liner)
 Sell 750 bare block to anyone who is doing a  big bore kit
