Well, my 400/4 is finally the way I want it...
« on: February 03, 2011, 07:50:14 AM »
Many have been witness here to my burning, genocidal hatred for the Goldwing-sized indicators and taillight that Honda burdened the US-market CB400F with.

Well, it's been a multi-year odyssey, but my bike is finally equipped with proper, smaller indicators.

The hardest part was finding a Euro/UK-spec headlight bracket that was in good shape.  Finally found one in Germany, and since my brother is stationed there with the Army, it was easy to get.  I know many would have fabbed something up, but I prefer to keep things "factory".

So I installed a UK-spec taillight, and rear winker stems, and I initially installed the "beehive" indicators, as would be found on UK bikes, but when I saw the even smaller and sleeker "bullet" indicators that came on German bikes, I wanted them.  Sent my brother back to the breaker yard to find four LNIB examples.

And a project I've wanted since 2005 and finally started in 2009 comes to a close.  I'm so happy.

Front-end comparison.  Note how much smaller and streamlined the German winkers are.

German Rear winkers.

'Glad you found turn sigs you like. Looks nice! Obviously, part of the fun is getting these ol' bikes like each of us want 'em.

My fronts are stock - rears are on the Shoei's. To each his own.

For those looking for something different in lighting, you might visit  <customdynamics.com.> Ph 800-382-1388. Large site, lotsa stuff. I got my headlight modulator from 'em with no problems. A buddy bought an LED volt gauge. Good folks. (No, I don't own any stock in the co.)
