My first car was a 1955 Buick Century with three tone paint, peach top, white mid section and yellow bottom with green interior! My second car was a wrecked 1970 Buick Rivera GS, I bought this because I burned through two stock water pumps and one transmission in the '55 in 3 months. My dad and I replaced the drive line in the '55 with the one from the Rivera, ta-da 1955 Buick Century with a 455 and 400 turbo!

Someday I'll buy another one and do it right.

1955 Chevy 2-door Sedan with the full luxury "convertible" interior.  It had a 265 and 3 on the floor when I got it, the thing had already been converted over from an automatic.

Hopefully I'll have my first job soon and shortly after, my first car.  Right now, the 400F is all I've ever owned but I usually drive a Sebring convertible that belongs to my parents.

this is how she sits now.  she was a little lighter blue in high school, had to have her repainted about 2 years back from a wreck.  1966 mustang, 289, 4V, t-10 4 speed.  right now she's under the weather with a slight blow out in the drivers side head gasket, so i need to replace that before i can fire her up again.

built her starting when i was 14, had her running by 15 and learned how to drive a stick in it!  talk about a pain, driving a full manual clutch w/ no power steering can be quite the challenge when you're first going!

1969 Pontiac GTO 400 Ram Air. Picked it up in 1976 from a 72 yr old guy that was complaining about gas mileage. Bought for the sum of 900.00 worked, all summer for it.

My first car was a 73 HQ Holden, I got it off my old man in '02 he bought it in '76, I drove it for 4 years then gave it back to him, it had a warm 186 in it, nothing flash, but is still my favourite car I have owned, even when I compare it to my 75 Monaro.

First car was a 1956 Ford Victoria.  I got it from my aunt because none of the other nieces or nephews wanted it.  I was 15 at the time.  She worked at Scott Paper Company in the Delray section of Detroit.  A heavy industrial part of town.  The paint had so much industrial dust embedded in it you could sand wood on the finish. I worked all summer to fix the car in anticipation of getting my drivers permit the following summer.  However, my dad made me sell the car as soon as it was finished.  I ended up getting my mom's 53 Ford Customline the following summer when I got my permit.  I only got it because it was not worth trading in.

My first car was a 1967 Mercury Cougar with the 390 cubic inch V8. It had an after-market Holly 4-barrel carb and got around 6 MPG.

My very first was a 1960 Jag 3.8 mark II bought for $425. in 1970, and sold for $225 about a year later. Followed by a 1961 microbus. In 1972 I was able to purchase a brand new Volvo 142 with electric fuel injection and electric overdrive on 4th gear with the money I made from shoveling driveways and mowing lawns. The Jag and the VW were marginal vehicles, the Volvo was a great car for 200k miles. It cost $3900. which was considerably more than the $300. a semester I paid for college.

1987 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, $800. it got 7-8mpg out of the 360 4 barrel. what a nice ride though. if i knew then what i know now, that thing would have been a tank.

In 1984, it was a '68 Mustang GT. Beautiful and sounded great, but many problems.  Too expensive for a 16 year old to fix.  Traded it and $300 for a NICE '76 Olds Cutlass Supreme that was a great car.  I drove it for 4 years and only spent $27 in repairs (not counting regular service).  I wish I still had it actually.  Big, heavy, powerful and smooth.

To summarize - the Mustang was cool, but the Olds was good.

My first car was a 1996 Mercury Cougar XR7.  Green out side, green leather/green cloth interior.  Had the first decent 4.6 that ford produced (the first that blow oil at 50,00 miles), and almost all the options you could have on one.  Wrecked it once and had it broken into once as well.  After the break in I got hung up on wanting it gone, and ended up trading it for a 4x4 s10.  Man was that a mistake I wish I had that car back.

My first car was a 55 Ford Customline. Straight six with 3 on the column, and 100K on the original clutch. Ripped seats and rust almost up to the door handles. I had a 67 Mustang Fastback, two Trans Ams and then family cars.

Man I miss that rusty 55 Ford. The rest were just cars.

'57 Olds 88 with a Rocket 371....bought it in '73 from a high school gym teacher for $150, he waxed it so much he waxed the paint off the curves on the top. Got 18mpg as long as I kept it 55 or below, but when I put my foot in it, mpg dropped precipitously...but what a solid comfortable ride!! and blastin my 8track with the 4 speaker system?? ooooohh baby..

My first car was a pink and black '56 Caddy Coupe like the sedan below.
Then I got a '67 427 Corvette convertible and a Tradesman van. So I had my '65 Honda Dream, my Caddy, my Corvette and my van all at once. Something for every occasion.

Boought it in terrific shape for $350 and was afraid I might get arrested for stealing when I sold it for $500.

I like TR3's better.

Man, some of you guys, both old and young, have had some nice first cars!

My first was a '65 Corvair 4-door with a 2-speed power-glide trans, and 55K miles on the clock. The PO thought it had "thrown a rod. That's what the guy at the gas station told me". I paid $75 for it, knowing I could get a running motor for another $75, worst case. The problem turned out to be a leak in the fuel line on the intake side of the fuel pump. It took a while to figure that out! After a couple of bucks worth of fuel line and hose clamps, it was a runner!
Of course, it leaked oil worse than any Harley until I replaced the push-rod tube O-rings, and was a gutless wonder, but it was reliable. I eventually traded it to my brother for his old clapped out '63 'Vair, plus $75, then sold his car for $75 to someone that wanted the drive-train for a dune buggy. My bro drove it for several years while he was going to Fresno State, then sold it to my best friend for $150. My friend drove it for about a year, then sold it to someone for $150, who wanted the drive-train for a dune buggy. We saw the car running around town for quite a while: I think the new owner decided a well running car that cheap was worth driving.

A Cameo White with black vinyl top '72 Pontiac Grand Prix. Black interior with crager ss's. 400 4 bbl. Turbo 400 w/shift kit out of a 69 GTO. I miss it still. It was a head turner. Totalled out in $&%*'N snow in '78.
