Wife drops a 750 Bomb on me today
« on: February 05, 2011, 01:01:53 PM »
I was riding a chopped 750 on the day I met my wife, the first two years we were together we didn't own a car, just a motorcycle.  These days my aged other half rides a Sportster, not so bad for a Grandmother several times over.  That is just background.

My wife, and others, have been tending to her mom these past few weeks.  The old girl got a new hip joint last wednesday and it was hard on her, she's in her mid 80's.  Today my wife mentioned a conversation she had with a niece or nephew or cousin - who knows? - of hers and the old boy asked her if I was into restoring bikes or what?  Apparently he is a bit of a car buff himself.  Anyway she tells me the relation guy has a friend who is trying to sell him a 750 Honda.  The fellow says he has no real interest in it, but went and looked at it.  They stuck the key in, cranked it over, and I am told it started and ran fine.  But the guy still isn't interested in it.  So he asks my wife, "you think your husband might be interested in it, the guy wants $500 for it."

Running 750 for $500, I presume it has a good title, and the question is am I interested?  Ferchristsakewoman, do monkeys eat bananas?

man...  i would hope my wife (whenever that may be) would jump all over that!  Lord knows my gf right now, bless her heart, would think $500 is way too much for a running bike, and she wouldn't buy it.  but then again, she doesn't have the bike fever!  you should get a picture of this mystery deal, and go buy it ASAP!!!

Ask her how much she spends on hair, waxing, and clothes just for one month. $500 is absolutely pocket change!

That's a good woman you got there, Kong!  But you know that.

Mine's gently agitating for me to sell the Honda, but only because she bought me an aprilia to ride while trying to restore the old Triumph.

I was told 20 years ago that if ANY bike runs its worth 500$. I'm sure it'll be in the garage by Monday.

I still don't know any more than I did.  I told my good wife - one of the sweetest women who ever might stumble across this post and read it - that I was interested and to let the guy know the next time she sees her.  Unfortunately the old girl who had the hip replaced is not doing well and is still hospitalized; my wife will be going back down there today (hospital is about 120 miles* from our home so its been quite a commute for her) and so may see the fellow.  Though her mind is certainly on other things I'll remind her to inquire about the bike if she sees the guy or his wife.
