Dynamic Timing 78 750K

Thanks for the tips on static timing.

I'm almost finished with the static timing. I used your idea of the homemade light. I need to go back and doublecheck everything before I move on to dynamic timing.

I intend on adjusting the cam chain and then check the dynamic timing.

Question: Do I need to wear rubber gloves when adjusting the timing while the engine is running? It looks like I can get a pretty good shock from
the condensors or points if I touch them while adjusting the breaker plates with the engine running.

Do not adjust with engine running. In the faq, there is a method for adjusting the chain. but dont do it while running.

well never mind. I did not find it in the faq. Well do this for now. Take off the housing for the tentioner and clean it our. Lots of crap gets in there.

Put it back on and pull out the plugs. Makes it easy to turn the engine. turn to the 1-4 T position. Now here is where I can remember.  I think you turn it ahead 15 more degrees then loosen the bolt on the tensioner and it will snap forward and then retighten the bolt. You should not be set correctly.

Loosen the breaker plate slightly so that you can use a screwdriver to adjust the plate. There are actually notches on either side of the plate for this purpose. The plate should have enough drag so that it won't slip when you remove the screwdriver. Rubber gloves optional.

If you look through thre hole in the points backplate 15 deg. will line up the spring post (where the advancer spring fits) with the timing mark.
