Solved: 550F chrome seat trim
« on: February 06, 2011, 01:34:51 PM »
Thought I would throw this out there.. since it took me forever to find the right thing.

So, for a while I have been trying to recover my seat.
It started with a his and hers... I put a 550K cover on a few years back, but it was in crummy shape to begin with.
I like a nice stock look.. but every F-series cover didn't come with chome strips.
Getting a cover from Morelli proved to be a pita.... so with winter approaching, I put an Ebay cover on.

THe re-covering went fine.. but the chrome strips were still a problem.

First I tried this stuff:

But it was a real pain to get on.. and wasn't really big enough looking for me. (I never had a stock seat.. but from pictures...meh)
It is really great for TANK trim.. but not for the seat I think.
Anyway, it eventually pulled of from opening the seat too much.. so I started experimenting with other stuf.

Eventually, I settled on this:

And it is totally great.
It went on WAY easier, in that it just stuck on the side.
The little ridge on the bottom lined it up with the bottom of the seat... and it is great.

I will see if it stays stuck with the stock adhesive... but if it doesnt, I have glue.

I have attached a pic, you can see the look.

its plastic, and sticks on with 3M adhesive. No tang needed.

Used this and it works very well. Can still use the front clips.
