Superbowl half-time show
« on: February 06, 2011, 05:25:49 PM »
I have to say that Fergie + Sweet Child of Mine = EPIC Fu@k!n FAIL!!!  Other than that it was a rather crappy cover fest.  Once again the half-time show falls so short of the hype that you wonder if the people that said they "saw the rehearsal and it was AWESOME" are retarded or have just sold their souls for advertising $$.

At least we haven't had a single rememberable commercial this year either...  First in many years where the game really is the only reason to be watching.

Also, GO STEELERS!!!

most of these half time shows really SUCK due to the lack of any REAL talent or singing ability....Plus...when are singers going to realize that their little twist on the national anthem does nothing but mess up an already difficult song to sing. Christine butchered it almost as bad as Roseanne barr. Damn it....just sing the song.

I disagree on the commercials.  I particularly enjoyed the Snickers commercial where Rosanne Bar gets clobbered by a huge log.

So far the wife and I have this and the "in the Boot" commercials as the best.  Still, that's a pretty low bar compared to most years.

I wasn't paying real close attention as her rendition was horrible but did she butcher the lyrics?

I agree, sing the song-it is almost unpatriotic some of these stupid versions...Larry

Yeah, she repeated the second verse in place of the fourth...

Yea...so intent on turning the national anthem into her own song...she left out lyrics and just totally screwed the song....hope they never never ask her to sing it again anywhere....

i saw black eyed peas in person and they were good as far as an intereting show but fergie is way over rated...  her voice is mediocre at best...
however tonights half time show was absolutely amazing.. if you would have watched it with the mute button on... the amount of coreograghy that had to go on with the extras and the electronics was amazing there had to be at least 500 people with those light suits on... and all of the black eyed peas had leds that went with the music and thier lyrics....... that show was from the future... you wont see another show that technologically advanced for 5 years

Roseanne Barr's national anthem was pure comic chocolate covered gold.  ;D

What the hell did they think they were going to get when they decided to let her do it?!?!?

Why is anybody surprised? When have they not sucked? ;D They have always been on par with small town parade marching band crap with maybe some lights and smoke and the occasional garment failure. ;D  Anyone who performs at one of these should instantly be written off as either a washed up has been or irrelevant.

Sorry but I disagree.  I saw NIN almost 2 years ago and the show was much for technologically advanced than some synched LEDs.  I'll agree that there was quite a bit of choreography but nothing that the average marching band couldn't handle.  I stick by the "it sucked like a $2...".

Apparently I live under a rock and didn't know who the "peas" were before that half time show.

I wish I still didn't know who they were. Someone should tell them that volume doesn't equal good. If you sound like garbage, the louder you get only makes you sound like louder garbage.

THANK YOU FOR THIS THREAD.   im a musician and singer,  and the half time show was so bad.    All the mics sounded like Radio Shack quality,  let alone they sang to a track, add the fact these guys cant sing a lick and you have horrid performance. Half the "V" in Love was not working.   One of the worst half times ive seen.

Christina singing the anthem was just as bad, she can sing but forgetting the words and all the over the top vocal runs to try and make up for it were bad.

The girl from the chessy Glee show did the best on her song.  Prob the best singer of the bunch.

My thoughts exactly.  I was in the kitchen and heard the riff start.  You could tell it wasn't a sample and I say "You've got to be kiddin me!".  Of course, he sounded good and looked cool as every right up until Fergie came within 10 ft.  It kinda sucked the cool out of the picture and all you had left was an amazing musician surrounded by hacks.  Even though I've never even seriously thought about hitting a woman I wanted to reach through the screen and grundle-punch Fergie at that moment.  To tell the truth, I still kinda do.

national anthem was an abortion.
give it to a local high school/church choir next year.
it would mean more to them, and they'd do a better job.
i'm a football fan, but turned it off when the Pac went up 21-3.
