1972 CB750 fuse box
« on: February 07, 2011, 07:26:45 AM »
So I have a quick question.  I have a 1972 CB750 that im in the process of rebuilding.  Cant really call it a restoration project, but im trying to get all parts working and as original as possible.

The PO for some reason, that I will try to not understand, decided to bypass the fuse box.  At first I thought that it was just hiden in some random place, but no.  There is no fuse box with wires just spliced together.

The only fuse box I can find for this year is 32110-300-000, which from my understanding has more fuses than I need, the 72 only has one fuse.

Any thoughts?
-Adam

Hey tango,

Im in vermont, talked to you a few weeks ago about a tach.  I ended up finding one.

I was looking at your restoration today, very nice work.  I wish I had the room to do an entire restoration.

Ill check that out fuse holder

The other 3 smaller fuses aren't necessary for the 72, are they?

I dont really understand how wires would plug into them anyways

That part number you quoted (32110-300-000)  is correct - same as my 750K0 and only has ONE fuse connected electrically , the others are spare fuses.

Thanks VTC,  my restore is on a low budget but will have about 1500 in it total when done.  Thats not including the profit i got from parting out the 550.  im using the profit to have the tank and side covers painted professionally.

ANYWAY.....thank you....back on topic.....

The 72 wiring had a 1 fuse holder, then in 73 the wiring harness changed and they added a 3 fuse holder along with a motor safety unit.

I have a fuse holder if you need one.

let me know ill send it to you for $1 but you should be able to just get a fuse and holder at the auto store and get what you want.  I would change to the blade style unless your going for original.

I hear ya.  My restore budget is a low as I can keep it, but some parts aren't cheap.  My goal is to have a well running, almost complete, clean bike by spring.  The tank is going to need a lot of work and Im going to need to get an original side cover, but will come in time.  I have a 75 parts bike parting out, but its pretty beaten up.

Im trying to keep the bike as original as possible. Is the fuse that you have one thats made for the bike? part number (32110-300-000)?

Thanks
-Adam
