I know that feeling except I got squealing tires before I was hit from behind- gave me a second to brace for the impact. That and I didn't land on my feet.

Smart guy though, flipped up his visor, didn't say a word and walked away, becuase I could see myself flipping out on the person who just hit me.

That is my biggest fear about being on a bike. There is nothing you can do about an old lady not paying attention. You're pretty much trapped even if you see it's going to happen.

I actually witnessed an accident that went down the exact same way but the rider flew over the top of the car in front of him. He lived but wasn't so lucky as the guy in the video. A 88 year old lady was the one who re-ended him, she could barley see over the steering wheel.

My biggest fear is the guy coming in from the side or thru an intersection where you have the right of way.  Have had several "close calls" & seen another biker clipped by a guy entering a road from a side street, wasn't pretty.  Only advice I have is to drive like everybody on the road is deliberately trying to kill you.  IE Don't trust anyone but yourself & leave the f*****s l ots of space to screw up on their own!

That's exactly the reason I never ever stop behind a car like that.

The squealing tires didn't start until after he hit me from behind!
Lucky he was driving an 80's Mustang and I went up on the hood and into the windshield.
If he'd been driving a truck or a van I'd be dead or in a wheelchair.

I got side swiped by a giant F-150 about 4 months ago on my 87 1100 Shadow. I was at a 4 way and the 5'1" girl driving the super lifted truck didn't see me crossing the intersection. I was lucky that I saw it coming. I think that my years of skateboarding helped me because I know how to hit the ground. The girl had the nerve to say, "you're lucky I had a pie in my car because I usually don't even slow down that much at that intersection." F'n B!tch! I couldn't help but tell her how I really felt. That's one time I didn't feel bad for making a girl cry. Anyway, totaled the bike but I walked away with a couple bruises/scratches and broken Ray Bans. B@tch didn't even have insurance.

Yeah but he is also riding a scooter not a motorcycle, that being said I would still be wearing jeans and sneakers.

I consider myself lucky that in all the riding I did on city streets in my younger days I've never been hit by a car. Now I only ride only for the sake of riding and I'm lucky enough to live on the outer edge of town so I can take the rural roads over to my routine riding area which includes a really nice section of Route 66. I am very nervous on the rare occasions when I get stuck in a high traffic area and I'm always looking over my shoulder when I'm stuck at a light. I always make sure I have an escape in case I see someone coming after me which usually means I pull up to the extreme left of the car in front of me and have the bike pointed so that I can gas it and get away if I need too. When I'm taking a long trip I'll go completely out of my way to avoid taking the interstate through high traffic towns like Dallas and Tulsa. Even if it was safer to ride in those conditions it just isn't fun.

Exactly!  That single piece of advice has saved my life countless times over the 26 years I've been riding.
It took 10 years but she's finally done!
