Like 1000 beavers farting - 75 750F
« on: February 08, 2011, 07:48:55 PM »
My exhaust looks like an empty tube -What exactly has fallen out ?

Now its just real loud and doesn't sound good ( I don't know why but I thought of beavers…) and my bike lost its punch.

Was it baffling and the diffuser? I looked at the bike bandit schematic but all they had was the entire rear piece with no depiction of the internal parts.

Yes, I'm a noob.

Whats the cheapest way to be able to accelerate quickly again? I could live with the noise if I had to...

With a more open exhuast your bike is "breathing" differently.  You may have to retune your carbs/change jets. Or construct a new baffle. Some folks here have done that.

You have, perhaps, created the most interesting thread title this board has ever seen.

This project started in confusion and will end in disarray.

Now thats OK as long as it doesn't SMELL like 1000 beaver farts. You know it seems that most beavers are not furry anymore and they're actually relatively ugly little creatures without any disguise.  ::)

Ok so the beavers all live in here:

I guess my question is the OEM or Aftermarket muffler...

That is NOT a stock muffler, in fact that ain't a muffler at all, just an open megaphone. Mac makes a muffler/tailpiece you might want to check on.

I think that is MAC megaphone mufler with the bafle missing, if I am right, you can get new bafle from MAC, or go look down the road for the old one.http://www.macperformance.com/store/category.cfm?SID=3&Category_ID=1523

Someone saw something shoot out the back of your bike, lol.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

Thanks for all the help.

I was about to buy a new megaphone instead of investing to repair an old on of dubious origin but then I searched the road where I first noticed the loss of power - and found the effen thing !

It was smashed up so I pounded the baffle back in a reasonable shape and put back in the megaphone and secured it with a screw… and now I am back to normal (ie beaverless) - a little too quiet actually….

My life is beaverless and a little too quiet, but I have a bike to work on, so this is good.

Nice beaver!

An absolute classic, thanks for that.
I have to admit my mind turned to the same thought as I read through the thread.
Not forgeting thanks to Mekagojira for the descriptive subject heading to enable these ramblings.

Nothing new to add, just wanted to resurrect what I think is the best thread title this board has ever seen.
My kids looked at my photobucket account tonight and saw the drawing of the beaver going "poot!" Try explaining to 13 year olds why a 50 year old man would do such a thing.

"If you have to ask you wouldn't understand" might work for the Hells Angels, but not my girls.

Just tell them it's because farts are funny. It's not even a lie.
