I just bought a 75 400F, in need of some new hand controls, thanks to a previous owner epicly kludging it with some kind of toggle switches for the kill, and just GUTTING the whole right side, I still do not understand it.

so, can I use say, CB550 controls, or something similar?  mine are just beyond repair, and need to be changed out.

I restored a 400F several years ago and was in the same boat.
You can find used controls on e-Bay, but they always go for
way too much money. I found that similar year (75-76) Goldwing controls
were identical and you can get them for a song. Can't remember if the
wire codes are the same, I just rebuilt everything using the 400 wires.

Look up the part number on bike bandit then pull up a new tab for bikebandit and search on that number. Quite a few bikes have interchangeable controls. I just posted a list on here a few days ago of the models that had interchangeable controls.

Don't know where you're located, but the NOS switches are also available from David Silver.

There was a post that had 600 hurricane controls pictured, and they liked them. Looked good , too.

I can get all kinds of controls from a friend all day long, since he's got tons of mismatched stuff, but I'm prefering to keep my look OEM if I can for controls.   its weird, I just like the classic controls much more.
