Shock question- cb400f
« on: February 15, 2011, 10:00:43 am »
Would there be issues if I went with 14'' eye to clevis shocks on a cb400F ?
Are there any opinions on which replacement shocks are best for this bike with a 210 lb rider ?
Any front suspension ideas / beef upos ?
Looking to build an ''almost'' cafe but street driven fun bike , but retaining the lights etc. !
Any ideas appreciated .

I run the 14 3/8" Midi/Forsa shocks on my 400F traack bikes.  They work very nicely.  I'm 5'11" and 250#

The fronts aren't bad, the biggest issue is that the brakes are pretty marginal.  Mostly to get decent brakes I upgrade to a different front end.  35mm to 38mm.  Most of the forks off larger bikes need to have the tubes shortened to keep the rake/trail the same.

Thanks ! Are you running stock swingarms ? I have to keep mine all stock for now.
Does 14'' shock measurements then mean no trouble for me ?

yes, stock swingarms.  14" shocks shouldn't be a problem.
