I know exactly where you are coming from also Hush. Had to have my devoted Yorkshire terrier put down just before christmas aand he was only 5. Developed a stomach ulcer from being tormented as a pup by a builder on a site we lived in where work was being done(large complex). This was happening unbeknown to us.
Unfortunately it was not picked up quickly enough and complications caused him severe discomfort to the point he would be walking around, and stop mid stride with severe craps. Poor little guy. Eyes have just welled up typing this.
Hardest decision I have had to make in a very long time, as to look at him, there was no visible signs of any problem.
Vet did a great job, very caring, but yes I cried like a baby as well.
Feel for you man.

I had to put a beloved dog down, 12 years ago this coming April. It's still painful for me to think about, due to the guilt I feel for not doing it sooner. If only a day sooner, it would have been better for him...

You did the right thing, Hush.
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

Dang, so much grief so much love for our wee hairy and furry friends.
DavePhipps, my Neko was an antisocial Tortishell too, maybe they are all like that?
From what I read we are just a bunch of big hearted softies. :)
I've still got Berley my 3 year old Fox Terrier, guess he will just get more love now...but he's already missing the extras he used to steal off the old cat, he's always going to be a mischievious puppy as he was the runt of the litter and will never be a big dog. :D
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!
