I think about projects as im falling asleep. Its when i have my best ideas. It also helps me fall asleep.

+1 there. it's a good time for anything creative and i read somewhere einstein also used that approach so we're in good company.

but as to ron's thread question i ask does me dreaming about your project count?  ;D

If i fall asleep thinking about a project i usually wake up with some good ideas and have solved many a problem whilst asleep, works for me.... ;D  I won't tell you about my flying dreams.... ::)  ;D

Mick

Bingo!, sleep is where all the solutions seem to come from, whether you remember the dream or wake up with the idear in yer haid.

Well not so much dreaming, but laying in bed trying to sleep Im restless and anxious. My mind keeps going over and over the stuff that needs to been done on my 70KO before its road ready. You know just the std. stuff that all 40 year old bikes need, brakes, tires, etc. etc. etc. I just want to get it on the road. But I need to tell myself to slow down and just enjoy the whole process and take my time.

Thanks for the graphic Ecosse! That counts!

I keep a pad of paper and pencil, and a flashlight so i don't have to turn on a big light, by the bed, for things I think of before/during sleeping. usually work related, but still furthers the overall purpose.

Same here, dreams are always filled with bikes. Ever since I seriously started racing which is about 40 years ago. As a matter of fact,I can only get to sleep forcing myself to concentrate on a problem to solve on one of my bikes.
Last night's dream was especially good: I was riding my suzuki DR750 as a King. I could tackle every kind of terrain, rescue myself out of every situation and still leave smiling people behind.
Just what I need for my big "around": A travel around the baltic sea..alone.

Yup I am gonna do it, about 10.000 km (That's something like  6500 miles for those who haven't caught onto modern times yet) and most days I cannot wait. Still more than a year to go though.
Really want to go now....

OK, want be stealin' no more dreams now...

My project is nearly done. But the engine smokes. It may need to come out again.

Last night I had the most vivid dream that we'd pulled the rocker box off (frame kit) and the cam and rocker gear. It was like the valve springs weren't there and the stem seals were ripped to pieces clinging to the tops of the guides, the wires stretched out.  Could be?

Not likely.   :(

Oh well, I was pretty happy in my dream.

I think about projects in order to fall asleep every night. If there are no projects I need to drink scotch . Problem solving keeps me sane...,and sober. ???

If I think about things...anything...I'll never fall asleep. Better to go straight to the Scotch!   ;)

"why isn't the bike finished yet?"  or "When am I gonna get the time to work on it?", and "Jeez, I've been mucking about on that friggin' machine for 4 years now".
That sounds like what I think about during the day!
I do have dreams though, mostly dream that it's finished, or at least running.

Very vivid dreams that my pistons were 1/4 inch proud of the cyl deck. This after I had just checked them and they were fine. They just grew while my back was turned.

Alright this is scary because I have a few of them combined. I used to dream about flying in my dreams and sometimes I think it during the day and wonder if I really can.

I go to bed and the first thing I think about is my damn bike and what I'm going to do to it tomorrow.

Shouldn't we as men go to bed wanting sex? Are we cheating on our significant others?

Who needs drugs these things are far more satisfying.

Last night I dreamt I had the nearly finished Phaedrus on a trailer. We were visiting one of the more notorious shops "downtown". While I was at the parts counter someone stole the tank and sidecovers. Just as plain and clear as day.

I was making all the plans to replace it. Gotta get on eBay first thing when I wake up. Gotta contact the painter and get on his waiting list. It was scary cool, but all along I knew it was a dream.

Or she just leaves. Or racks up a credit card.

Did you jump off of stuff to fly?  I used to take off from the ground, like swimming breast stroke up into the air, get some altitude, then I go glide around and look at town from the air.

Unfortunately most of my project dreams involve bad maintenance items...had a dream once on my CB650 that over the course of the drive to work pieces started to fall off one by one until I was simply pushing a rolling frame to the back door of the office :(

Not sure I want to analyze that one :)

BTW....if you ever do take phaedrus down to 10th and Rural area....let me know and I'll come babysit the trailer :)
