Does anyone else dream about their projects?
« on: February 13, 2011, 07:40:04 PM »
I do. several times, but I don't remember my dreams very well. But the most recent one, just a few nites ago was interesting.

For some reason, I had to disassemble my fork tubes. Mind you, in real life, they are fully assembled and ready to go, but in my dream, I figured something was wrong and they had to come off. So I'd somehow drained them, as they were dry, and I was pouring out other stuff. Odd bits, things that have no place in a fork tube. Things that were unrecognizable, no matter how hard I tried. And things that... wouldn't fit in a fork tube anyway, but they poured out.

Then I woke up. Whew.

Not that I can remember but I had a F'd up dream about my Venture the night before.  My dreams tend to be quite wild for some reason.  Momma's trips out on them.

I will tell it upon request.

I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

I've done it as recently as two nights ago after watching Back to the Future.  I was working on my bikes in my garage when a lightning storm started and stuck a car that was sitting on top of the wires that connect telephone poles.  Weird stuff man...

I do too, except in my version they're not dreams, they're friggin' nightmares!! As in "why isn't the bike finished yet?"  or "When am I gonna get the time to work on it?", and "Jeez, I've been mucking about on that friggin' machine for 4 years now".

Them kinda dreams. They wake me up feeling really depressed.

Yeah! The ones I have but I can't remember the details, revolve around having the project finished or nearly, and discovering or experiencing a catastrophic failure or oversight.  :(

My project dreams are always kinda nightmares - it's always along the lines of "I want to do A, but in order to that, I have to do B first, but that means C will have to get done, but in order to do C, I have to buy a part off ebay and wait a week for shipping, then have to buy a specialty tool, but the tool can be either purchased as a $$$ tool, or as a cheapie Harbor Freight version, or even a homemade version, but that will require a bit of fabrication so I have to make that decision first..."

Then, since that whole project seems to be thwarting me, and since I always have more than one project going at a time, I'll decide to forgo task A, and move on to one of the other projects, and I find the process repeating all over again...

I wake up stressed and exhausted...

:)

I dreamt about my project last night. it was finished and running fine. I was taking it on a shakedown ride on West Washington Street in front of Dreyer's Honda, when the front end felt funny. I got off and the front tire had gone flat. it was the mock up tire I'd had on for years, an old bald Michelin, just good enough to hold air. I couldn't figure it out because i knew I had changed it to a brand new tire not too long ago.

Is that a good sign? At least it was running.   ;D

There was a Honda ad floating around this forum a year or two ago which was similar to your dream: Guy is riding his bike butt naked, he gets to a toll booth and pays with his credit card. The big question was, where'd he keep his credit card?
This place had fun with that  one for weeks.

one of my worst dreams involves parts that disappear as I'm working on the bike.
I go to reach for something and it's not there, I can't find something on the shelf, then parts start disappearing off of what I'm working on and I spend hours obsessively unboxing thousands of parts only to lose those too.

yea me too... but I forgot about the part where I somehow wind up in a blackhole/time warp thingy of parts flying all around me and I'm unable to reach any of them.

I think that describes doing anything in my garage. Especially if the wife decided she wanted to help.
