Guzzi does have 40mm dellortos (not 100% sure, will ask and correct if wrong). for the next races a slightly less radical camshaft will be incorporated -> 2hp loss but useable torque from 4000rpm.
i have done a radical weld Job on the Guzzi heads, Peter did the final porting. at the first glance really rough and ugly ports, but the result tells another story.

kawa does have 37mm CRs.

very nice result form the guzzi. how many CCs is it? I am pretty sure that even the guzzis of Motobel and Taurus Team are not doing 123hp.... more like 115, but they are endurance motors, so a bit less stressed.

interesting work on the head, just what i did to my 90hp Gpz810, good squish is really important.
What pistons are fitted in that guzzi? regular high compression will not work so well with that kind of flat & large squish areas. can you post some pics?

Will ask for more data when i start working on my le mans III.... one day...
That would be interesting to see. Those welded chambers look like Branch Harley heads. The Branch heads have had problems with hardness after pouring all the weld into chamber....the heads can blow out at the fire ring. I have seen several sets that have done this.

It couldn't hurt. ;D Keep in mind the hardness. It is a good shape but... just something I've seen over the years.

Scotty..........many enjoyable miles I've had on an FT.................gave one to my daughter to ride.........and ride she did.............and then I sold it for more than I paid :)

There are a few FTs that show up at AHRMA events with 600cc motors.  They need help to get them started ;) ;)

I've put about 20 miles on the FT since pulling it off the dyno, half on-road at speeds up to 65 MPH, and half on dirt roads at speeds as low as 15 MPH. I'm very happy overall with the way it's running! ;D ;D

Thanks guys. Previously I had to unstrap to get outside to bump start, then idle it to get back in and strap the front down. Finally finished my roller starter which will save all that fooling.

Lard ass isn't an issue Mike, I'm the one sitting on it.  ;D  I may try a few pulls with the rear synched down some.

The only thing I notice is it seems to polish the rear tire which I thought might be traction loss, but I suppose that is likely not the case.
Evidently my lack of a lard ass is an issue. :o Note the bobbles in the torque curve at the top end; finally realized the tire had been spinning on the drum when I noticed a build-up of rubber dust on the deck behind the drum.
TRW 836, mystery regrind cam (about .320" lift at the valve), stock K1 head, Weber carbs, and Gerex ignition.

another detail is to adjust the bike position so rear wheel axle is just a bit ahead of the drum's so it creates a bit of wedge effect/extra downforce.

Dont worry Scott, first time I dyno'd a dirt bike with nobby tires I covered the room in flying knobs, it was wild,  :o :o :o

 when dynoing the Jawa speedway bikes running on methanol we used to play "last man to leave the room was the winner " and closed the door.   wild man, tears of joy :o ;) ::)

Just came back from dynoing my friends ZX12R
I helped him install the Nitrous kit



Modifications are:
Muzzy uprated fuelpump
Powercommander 3 usb
Powercommander Ignition module
Powercommander Multifinction hub, for the mapswitch ability.
Dynatec ARC-2 for the launch control.
Nitrous RPM window switch.
MPS 40hp Nitrous kit

The reason for the mapswitch is that Drag bikes in the SuperGas class in Sweden aren't allowed to use nitrous for some reason.And they are allowed in norway.

The bike already ran ~9.65 on the 400 without the nos.

with it being a Horvath guzzi motor, you can bet these are not stock pistons....

MEC, whatever happened to his Concam motors? wonder what kind of power they made.... maybe you dynoed it? :)

That run was in 4th gear, and I shut it down at about 6.2K RPM, as this was just a first-test run. The torque number is completely bogus.
The axle was centered on the drum; next time I'll shift it forward.
BTW, the last time the top end of this motor was touched, other than tappet adjustments and removing the cam cover was 1979. I'm guessing the best the old girl has may be around 65 RWHP, but I can already see the Webers need some serious attention.

showing off MEC? problem is there might be somebody with a bigger bump out there... :)
my XTZ 680 supermono's dyno: 77 rwhp, not sure about dry weight, but with battery and oil its 125.

MEC, are you actually racing it? my championship has a supermono class but  not that many participants so we are mixed with other classes.
could be fun to race it with other supermonos... 

BTW, hope you have some protection for your family jewels.. ;) those carb throats sure look close!

nice numbers for your XTZ. engine concept from 1991 approx?
thats the problem with my liquid cooled rotax head, concept from stoneage or so...
Daiber et uno once had +90hp with this head, but: the head cast, sawed into pieces, welded together, milled,....thats more work i am willing to do :)....+70hp reliability is the next issue.

maybe i will build one more engine: air cooled head with double in-ports. should be good for ~70hp.

the liquid cooled rotax is raced from time to time (liquid cooling is not allowed in the GrabTheFlag series). last weekend we had our first rollout in rijeka. my friend robert (he has three children, the carbs are no danger any more) raced the bike. 3 races, 3 victories. racers level not in the MotoGP class however.

next race for the dohc rotax will be Rupert Hollaus Gedenkrennen Reb Bull Ring, Austria. the aircooled one races at GTF Slovakiring (end of June).

Standard 736 (still), oem cam, good yoshi style pipe and CR31, Accent electronic ign and Dyna coils. End result little over 70 hp at the rear.

Nice Rob.

I love that you are giving good data regarding stock based 736 motors.  It will be interesting to compare with the Yoshi pistons. Having a good compression check might give some insight to how well the stock piston ring/ cylinder bore seal is holding up.  I recall Honda man suggesting a few times that power levels can increase noticeably with the same stock piston/cylinder parts but with a fresh hone and rings.  That could be taken into consideration when judging the power difference between the stock (ish) setup and the yoshi piston/ fresh bore, hone and rings refresh.

Please keep us updated.
