73 CB750 with Pod, Carpy 4 into 1.
Idle jets: 40
Clip position: unknown
Main jets: 130
Power pretty much peters out above 5k rpm

Note: went to 120 and got much better power, especially above 5k.

Power & Air/Fuel vs rpm (looks weird, though)

Newest one is in blue. Same setup, but with a 125-75 cam. Added 2 rwhp and 5(!) lb ft of torque, but peaks moved DOWN the rev range and not up.  Cam must be a bit advanced.

Take care,
David

Peak is 80.84 rwhp at 8000 rpm, but then it flattens out for nearly 1500 rpms before falling off.  The combo should keep pulling until 9500 rpms, but it's run out of air.

Basically, it seems that CR29's (with the 125-75 cam, Mike's head-work, and your pipes) are too small.

Anyone out there want to trade my lightly used (under 2 hours run time) CR29's for similarly nice CR31's?
Take care,
David

CB750K2
55,000 original miles on the bike

Mike Rieck (JMR) engine:
Bored out to 810cc
Dynoman 295 cam
Ported

Stock carbs
120/40 jets
Stock airbox/OEM air filter
Stock clutch
4-4 HM300s with baffles
Oil - regular 10W40 Penzoil - not changed since rebuild.

Added 2 gallons of Ultra 93 on the way to the dyno which mixed with the regular 87 I normally use.

Dyno was done personally by Rick Stetson at Harrys Machine Shop in Northborough. Rick is a world famous drag racer and has a little plaque as you walk in saying he is a member of the 200 mph club! Another plaque says 222.2 mph!! So he jumped on the K2 and did the dyno - graph shown was when bike was in 4th gear...was fun to watch...and the result is...

Before the second run (blue line) the bike was strapped down at front and back as the rear wheel was slipping - turns out the rear wheel is either not balanced or out of true - its way out apparently! Anyway on the second run the clutch slipped - you can see where....so possibly a few more HP when the wheel is sorted out.

So powerband is between 5000 -7000 rpm which is exactly where i have been feeling it on the highway.

Rick did mention the initial lag on the throttle due to the stock carbs so CV carbs or something else would eliminate this.

Very happy with the numbers! Thank you Mike!!

cheers
Andy

RS34's only wanted to run on 3 cylinders, so I swapped my CR31's to rule out carbs before send the Dyna 2000 back for inspection.  Needless to say, it runs on all four, and well at that.

CR31's with 130 mains. Picked up 4hp over the CR29's, peak is now 84.76.  Torque is unchanged at 56 lb/ft.  50 lb/ft on tap from 5400 rpms to 9000 rpms.

Could go to 128's and back to YY8 needles as it's still a bit rich.  It's also only at 30 deg total timing, so I may dial in a bit more this weekend if I get a chance to get into the shop.
Take care,
David

Nice. Getting there. I would like to see it hold HP at the end. The 34's are the answer. I'll email you.

Suppose put it here too:

836 high compression
Cr 31's "ticklers
Flowed head with bigger in and outlet valves
Dyno ignition
Webcam 63b
4 open megga's
Better sorry for failing then for the lack of trying.

Congratulations on the nice numbers.  These are pretty much the exact same results that we got with my 836.

Vox      84.8hp 58.7lb/ft
David   84.7hp 56.8lb/ft

This winter I'll fiddle with the RS's again and see if there's another couple more HP to be found, but Voxonda's runs make me think this is close to the limit for this configuration.
Take care,
David
