Kerker Exhaust Questions

Hey guys - I impulse bought this exhaust a while back and am trying to decide what to do with it.  I have a couple questions I'm mulling over.

This is a Kerker, but not one I'm familiar with. 


It has a removable exhaust (below the collector), but the baffle appears to be fixed (as in, I can't take it out of the pipe).
The header has 2 adjustable pipes, (#2 and #4).


Questions:
1. Is this thing a decent pipe? (hugely debatable I'm sure)
2. Its rusted.  Anyone ever had luck powder coating exhaust pipes?
3. Is there a way to clean the baffle without destroying it?  (sounds like there's a lot of dirt and dust in there)

Any thoughts?

I had a similar kerker. The baffle was tac welded in. I tried to get it out and it was a PIA.

   The header appears to be a Honda part from a 750F. Kerker used to make mufflers that fir up to the stock header, I don't know if they still do.

Looks like Stock F2-3 factory exhaust 4-1 with aftermarket slip on muffler, i have the same one on my F3 750, i sanded it wire brushed it and VHT header painted it, light coats of paint, did not have to worry about jetting changes just shimmed the needle up,, sounds good and paint is holding up real good, Jet coat is also a good option may do it later, my other bike headers are Alumicoated also,  they don't blue or discolor,,

Hmmm... I thought this might have come off a later model bike.  Now I'm wondering if it would even work on my '74 cb750.  I held a spare head up to it and everything seemed to align...  I dunno - this thing may be more trouble than its worth.

I have one of these that I bought a while back, had intentions of using it on my
project but I'm not sure at this point. The place I get my powdercoating done at
quoted me somewhere in the neighborhood of $200 to sandblast and coat the header
and pipe. They have to use a ceramic coating as regular powdercoat will not stand
up to the heat. As for the baffle, it is designed to be removable and replaceable, its
just the fact that it's rusted in the pipe that makes it seem like it isn't. There is typically
a bolt or rivet in the very end of the pipe that secures it in. The problem is going to be getting
the baffle out of the pipe. If it's really rusted in there, you might be able to use a bunch of
penetrating oil and a slide hammer to get it out....it just depends on how severely stuck it is.
If it comes out and the pipe is still in good enough shape, you can replace the baffle, but they
aren't exactly a cheap item. Just a guess, figure $75-$125 depending on what you're looking for.
So...after all this, you have to ask yourself what it's worth. You're probably looking at about $300
and a lot of work to get this pipe looking and sounding like a new one. (Providing it's not rusted through
or otherwise severely damaged. You could find another system new or good used for this amount or not
much more. So...really just depends on what you want, how much you want to spend. Hope this helps!

I replaced the baffle on my 550 kerker. Dynoman sells the replacements. It was stuck. I used a slide hammer and broke it out.
