Just ordered a set of these tonight. My bike isn't cafe'd at all, but since I have low bars I thought I'd try these out and see how they look instead of the stock "bug eyes" sticking up over the bars. Seems like they should clean up the profile IMO, and maybe offer a better field of view.

Anyone else using these ones?

yup have have that merror just one on my left side. it doesnt slide down or vibrate like other merrors of the same type.

where did you get them i am in need of another?

I have bar ends kinda like that one, the semi-cheapies from Cycle Gear. It works well though and looks decent so I can't complain.

I have a set up kinda like that, just have the one on the left for now. I did not like how there is not a washer or some type of bushing to keep the grip neat looking. when you cut a hole in the end of your grip and install these the grip will kinda mushroom around the mirror mount.

so what I did was ordered a set of Moose bar ends.

then I drilled out and tapped the bar end to accept the bolt that was included with the mirror. then on the mirror I cut off the tit that would be inside the rubber that expands to hold the mirror in place. I placed an external star washer between them to keep the mirror from twisting. so far i haven't had any issues with them moving on me, but I don't ride my bike as much as I should either.

both the mirrors and bar ends i got at Dennis Kirk, probably not the cheapest place.

This photo is just with the mirror, before I modified it to accept the bar end.

i have one of those exact halcyon ss mirrors, top notch quality, i can actually see whats behind me no matter what speed im going

"Field of view" is dictated by flat glass vs convex glass. The description on these doesn't say which it is.

Thanks for the pic Chowers, looks good.

By field of view, I just meant that the bar end mirrors witll stick out farther than the stock ones so I shouldn't have to shift my body to the left or right like I do now. My shoulders block the view, drives me nuts.

they are flat glass but big enough that you still get a good field of view

They are low rise, about 2" I would say. They came from the local motorcycle junk yard, I don't have a clue what they came off of.

Had the same issue with stock mirrors, when I would wear my rain coat. The coat would balloon up and I couldn't see anything behind me. I have one for both sides, but the one on the left worked good enough I never bothered with the right side (at the time i didn't put it on because of the issue with it interfering with the grip)

My bars look to be about the same as yours. They were on it when I bought it. Great looking bike man! Is it lowered at all?

Yes it is lowered a bit....Unsure of an exact meausurement, just kept cutting untill I was happy.

No worries man, I'm the one asking all the questions about your bike. I think the SOHCs look good lowered. I'm stuck at home bored as well, had knee surgery two weeks ago, have a couple more to go before I head back to work.

Not that I mind riding out the rest of this bitter Northern winter in my nice warm house.

Can't wait to get the bike out of storage.............

Actually, no. You see about 1/4 of what you'd see with convex glass. When I worked a parts counter, we did side by side comparisons all the time. The difference is amazing.

that may be so but i didnt compare the convex vs flat glass i was just saying that the feild of view in the flat glass on these halcyon mirrors is still good

Well since your bored. I attempted to remove the baffles from mine to give it a little better sound. I ruined the baffles in the process. This bike straight piped was so loud I could not think, it would give me a headache. So I built new baffles for the pipes. I didn't use any packing just diverted the airflow twice. I think it gives it a moderate sound while cruising, but if I wrench down on it it will get throaty!

Also have the highway bar and a fairing/windshield!

About the '73 model bikes? I don't know.....I painted mine like a '69-'72 because I liked those better. The white on black color scheme was never offered on a 750 though (believe it was avaliable on the 550s).

I think the black looks really sharp man, I love my metal flake orange, but if I ever decide to paint it'll be gloss black all the way.

Just something about black and chrome that screams classic motorcycle to me.

The mirrors arrived today.........they're beautiful. Top-notch quality, better than I expected actually. All stainless.

Now, if winter would kindly move along and let spring in, I would be a much happier camper.
