Got crutches? Raise the front wheel easy!
« on: February 17, 2011, 10:38:46 AM »
You ride a motorcycle, so you've probably got some crutches.  If you have fairly low ceilings, I discovered that you can use them to push down the rear of the bike and lift the front tire while on the centre stand.

I placed a flat wooden board on the seat, got some help in lifting the front end so the rear tire touches the ground, and wedged the crutches between the roof and the board on the seat. You could probably remove the seat and use the frame rails instead, if it stays like this for a while the seat foam may become compressed.  The rubber end of the crutches are nice and soft, and you can adjust their length to taste.

Grab some rope and tie the 2 crutches together so they don't accidentally come apart.  I also tied a rope to a ceiling beam/frame and put a car jack/wood under the oil pan for peace of mind.

Remove the front tire!

Nice one!
Free, but if you fall and cant walk, your f'd without a crutch or a bike to ride!  ;)

here's an alt. cheap too.  stores away nice.
Got plywood sheet laying around? (3'x3' min)
~1' in from the rear edges/corners of the plywood, screw down 2 cabinet handles.
(position for exhaust clearance)
park with your center stand on the plywood and rear tire between the handles.
use your ratchet straps connected to these, and your rear frame rails to pull the a$$ end down.
nice-n-stable  ;)

or that cool bike box someone posted plans for on here.
it'd be easy to affix tiedown anchors to lift the front on that.

Been wondering what to do with my crutches now that I can (mostly) walk again - thanks for the tip!!   :)

The only bones I ever broke was a big toe and my nose (had some help with the nose - more than one time - and it's still crooked!). The toe finally got alright.

So, I'll have to borrow or buy a crutch!
