Hope you are able to wrap it up without much trouble before leaving.  Was the "lead" bike over revving his motor leading to the failure? Or did all that "Ti" in the motor decide to do a prison break?

It makes me sick to see such carnage to your beautiful race bike.  Imagine you are not having all the "lipstick" on for this next race...

brent i wonder if you can explain to me why canadian and american riders seem to race so infrequently . you seem to do about seven or eight meetings a year .
in england for me a full season was around thirty six meetings , although some of those would be one day meetings and i would do two in a weekend .

Part of it has to do with tracks that are available and willing to have vintage motorcycles race there. With hundreds of tracks in the US, there are many that do not want to deal with vintage bikes. Rates for racing in our club are usually far lower than what many tracks charge as well. The condensed nature of the UK may allow for more tracks per unit of area and since competitors are geographically closer, it may be easier to fill a grid more often. Also, my home state of Michigan is just slightly larger than the entire UK. If all the club meets were in Michigan, I could easily do 2 a month if finances permitted. As it sits, tracks are the following drive times away: 1 hour, 5 hours, another few 10-12 hours, and the farthest couple are at least 2 days drive, more like 3 away.
All you gotta do is do what you gotta do.

yes i did expect distance to be a problem , dont the clubs running modern bike meets have any classes for older bikes ,. pretty much every racing club over here
has a class for classics and post classics , post classics being 70s and 80s bikes . you dont have to race with a specific classic only club

road racing in general (cars and bikes) is largely unknown to the general public in the U.S., plus the fact that motorcyclists are a much smaller segment of the population than the U.K., Europe, or most of the rest of the world, plus the fact the that the vast majority of said motorcyclists are only interested in wobbling around on cruiser bikes for about 15 minutes a week while wearing pirate costumes :-\

Brent,

I’m glad to hear your on schedule to finish her up in time.👍

Post some “after” shots to help get some of the terrible “before” shots off my mind.😁

Will do George. It needs numbers otherwise it's done like dinner.

Unfortunately Sean is right, NA roadracing is light years away from being a popular event. Nascar trucks displaced our weekend at Mosport that we've had for years. I'm not opening a can of worms but Nascar trucks fills the friggin place. WTH? Actually the last couple years at Mosport we bring in a lot of spectators. It's kind of cool having a crowd waving on a cool down lap!

Simon, truth is there is no damn money in Canadian racing, never has been. I remember in the early 80's Superbike racing brought out huge crowds and the winner made peanuts. This year's CSBK series is five races and four of the five are small tracks. I hate to be negative but there is no wonder local provincial series and the VRRA draws some young fast guys. You don't make ANY money but you spend far less. Pathetic.

Canada has produced several excellent riders, but they had to leave the country to make it. We have quite a few aging ex pro's that are still fast, have fun and spread the race craft in the VRRA. Interesting how things go!

Our VRRA season is four races, I try to do a USCRA round and AHRMA as well, so it's not overly busy but all we can manage time wise. For your info three of the tracks cost the club in excess of $70,000 for a weekend, but these are nice tracks. Three of the regional modern race series offer a vintage class, but all three always race the same small tracks and don't interest me.

If we had more time there are more weekend events available in the US, simply a time constraint issue.

We have had a few excellent riders come out of this country but they had to leave to make it. We have

we are lucky over here , bike racing has always been popular . back when i started all the meetings were over subscribed and the races were three heats with the top 10 from each getting into the final , they were hard to win !  . its not quite like that now but most grids are full and there are several meetings every weekend . classic racing has started to change , there are less owner riders winning . people buy bikes then pay good riders to ride them . not what i would call in the spirit of it but what do i know . i suspect they do it because its much easier than winning a modern race , actually i have no idea why people poor so much money into classic racing for me it should be bikes from the period using all period parts ridden by people that own them !

Sure, hiring riders happens here too. Truth is we race a period 4(to 1990) and there has been discussion about period 5 (up to 95 I think)

I've always harped about propping up the earlier periods but two issues arise. 1) early period stuff is getting tougher to find plus find parts for and 2) "I have no connection to the earlier period" !

It's like old timer hockey. Eventually the age limit kept rising so the old guys could still play and not be run over! Same too for original vintage, may need to break away and have 1 day events or the like.

Hi Brent
Could you tell me what the name of the company in Belgium is to which you sent your Krober? And the contact details? I also have one which reads twice what it should.
regards
Thomas

Mine seemed fine for a couple laps, then started reading off.  I hope Willy helps out because as you can imagine shipping to and from Canada wasn't cheap.

I got a report from Brent regarding the VRRA races this weekend, from last night:

“Pretty good day, 3 for 3 in the win column, including P3H against the 80's superbikes.”

Nice job Team Waller... I hope today goes as well.

Yes it was a good weekend. Won 5 and a 4th. Tyler rode well and is fun watching the little bike do battle with the big superbikes in that class. In fairness to them, this track favours lighter bikes and higher corner speed.

I haven't been to a dyno after all this head work. I did bump up a couple 1/2 mainjet sizes and it seemed to help. I think it needs more. I have a great little antique Champion plug light that helps, but I need to get more cheap D9 resistor plugs and cut one up to know for sure

In the P2 final he had a great battle with Dave Crussell on his H2. Tyler was smiling ear to ear when he came in and said they bumped, slammed the door, cut off noses all race long.  ;D Last lap Dave was ahead and Tyler passed another guy on the brakes and that guy challenged back so Ty had to off track to avoid him so missed any possible move on Dave. They were in different classes but it sounded like fun.

New soft Avons to start and probably 50 laps of the 5km circuit absolutely pooched the front and the rear has a Friday practice left in it. This surface has excellent adhesion, and gives the guys a fighting chance in the wet as well.

This is the kind of post race I like, some clean-up, change oil and one tire. Wow, some time off!

Sounds great Brent....awesome (and I don't like that word). ;D I think we need a slow shot of Brent and Tyler walking up to the bike, looking around at the competition, starting it etc.....something like the beginning of Reservoir Dogs when they walk out of the restaurant. ::) ;D

Thanks to George, Mike, Jim French, Rick Stetson, and recently Cal for the help. It takes a village.  8)
