Brent, figured you to be busy, not ignoring me.
Figured you were digging more out of Bill's Batcave and trimming a few more pounds off your frame.
I hate computer problems, having had a few myself not long ago.  Really dislike the Windows hack called an Operating system...

So, getting some ceramic bearings in the hubs yet?

Reducing weight and rotational friction...

Heard you were looking for some updates to your racing leathers. Did you take inspiration for them from:

Nope, no super in this man plus the steel shoe is too heavy.

Guesstimate on how many pounds lighter you and your bike will be come racing season opener? That's May right?
Got your dyno session scheduled?

What's the status of the bike?

How has the winter been in the great white north?

You know much about David Aldana's history?  The AMA suspension for having the skeleton on his racing leathers and the superman leathers that came afterwards.  Had a 60 day suspension for the skeleton on the leathers, but it was lifted and he was able to finish the season and garner more points. Talented racer and diverse skills to handle several different styles of motorcycle racing.  You know how to go fast like he did.

Watch any of the Sebring races?  I watched parts of the 12 hour race on Youtube today. Interesting but not as interesting as motorcycle racing...

No drastic weight loss effort this winter, bike or rider unfortunately.

I was always in awe of those guys that forged the way especially in flat track & roadracing. Bugsy, Burrito, Nixon among so many others. Cutting off casts to race, man tough as nails. The rest of us are meer mortals in comparison.  ;D

Dave Aldana's in the hall of fame....say no more!

You can only take the weight loss so far, and you did a phenomenal job of that from the start.

With magic by Mike R on the head and ports it will offset the need for any more weight reduction.
Will the swingarm mentioned be done in time?

How has the ignition system fared since you switched out the defective Dyna pickup? Are you still using Dyna or did you go with another solution?

Neighbor got a husky pup and installed a doggie door panel in their sliding door. Interesting, never considered that "solution" before.

Friend that lives a couple miles away had one in their back door for their dog and was greeted by a rattlesnake that came through the doggie door and was camped out in the kitchen one day.  Doggie door was off the kitchen area of the house that overlooked the backyard.
We have 14 different species of rattlesnakes here in AZ, I don't care to meet any of them.

Brent, that is a very nice swing arm.
Tim's chassis is very very nice.
Good equipment all around.

Does this stretch your wheelbase a little?

Thanks for the updates and pics/links.

Some good reading there, its a shame he has websites all over the place, it would be better if he had everything on just one..  ;)
Can i ask how much for the arm.?

Hey TG, hate is such a strong word......"seriously dislike". Yea that'll do!

After lots of discussion I asked for a stock length arm. So wheelbase is unchanged. By their calculation the box section arm is 3.5 times stronger, could be. I'm pretty sure I was seeing the rear wheel "misalign" while under full power on the dyno. Can't be good on the race track and hope the extra stiffness is noticable.

I'm just organized TG, I have over 10 grand easily in my k2 parts box {mainly engine parts}, that arm would not be the most expensive part there either.... ;)

flavio, my tuner friend often fits 750's arms to 500s, shorter = quicker steering....

Nice piece of kit from Denis, Brent. 8) 8) 8)

He's coming over to the new place Friday to check out the sidecars.  One of those arms is on the list for next year, when I go to 15" rims, and FV tires.

My bike spent some time on the dyno at Mike Riecks friend Rick Stetson's shop. Rick is a smart, thorough guy with tons of dyno tuning experience. This winter's head work included 1mm o/s valves and Mike looked after boring the seat throat and blending the port afterwards. There were no wholesale jetting changes necessary, but chased around air correctors/mains looking for a good A/F graph. There is still a rich dip @6k but rolling on the throttle through that range it's managable. It likes more fuel right at the top. Best pull was 71.9. Thanks to Mike & Rick both, the day was worthwhile.

Other than the dip, that is a very nice curve!! For a race motor, the torque curve is VERY flat from 6.5K to 10.5K, IMHO. Any idea why it gets so rich at 6K?

Congratulations. Can't wait to see how my bike fairs with that head work.

That bike flat out ripped....10% improvement with a 1mm intake size gain is hard to imagine. A very satisfying day on the dyno....except for the competition. ;D The dip is the product of big carbs, pipe etc............and was at full throttle. Brent can easily ride through that with throttle control. Also.....no smoothing control on that graph.

Jimmy with those 26's on your bike I'm sure that engine will be awesome. Just proof the smaller carb is the better street choice imho.

Mike is right about the big carb effect, there has always been a problem spot in that area. As he mentions though the carbs are never cracked wide coming out of a corner but by rolling the slides open that spot isn't an issue. Besides I'm in the wrong gear if I let the revs drop that far anyway.

That's a great peak number and a beautiful graph. Doesn't look like a race motor at all, just a really nicely dialed in street bike.

FWIW, I'm not a shill for Race Tech - I've just got a thing for good suspension and the RTCE's are the most cost-effective mod for these old damping rod front ends.
