I have a full face already. I'd like a decent 3/4 helmet and a set of goggles for cruising around the city.

I really like the Arthur Fulmer AF40 style helmets, but they seem tough to come by in decent shape. Any alternatives that aren't super bulky?

Never having worn goggles, I'm not even sure where to start. Any suggestions?

I had a pair of Nannini Riders that were super nice. Really soft leather and a nice lens. Unfortunately they blew off the top of my helmet on the highway and I didn't notice. Was stupid of me to leave them there, I was wearing sunglasses because the sun was right in my face that day.

They're supposed to be really nice as well. Thought I would try the compact model as I had some fit issues with my helmet and the goggles being slightly too large around the edges.

Also just got my new helmet, Bell Custom 500. Seems really nice, thought I haven't actually worn it on the bike yet.

that nolan is cool, but man the 500's are SO classic!! i'm seriously considering getting either one of the Gold Flakes, an RSD or the Stunts, SO cool!!

how does their sizing run? I wear an XL in HJC and an XXL in Icon.

This is my other helmet. It''s kinda funky, but looks way better without the visor IMO.

I think they size a little on the small side. I seem to wear a medium in most helmets, but the bell was really tight in a med. Ordered a large and it fits really well. Apparently they have a sizing chart that can help you narrrow it down.

I almost went for the orange flake, its the same colour as my bike.........but my gf convinced my that a matching helmet/bike combo might be a little too much..........

+1. I had a pair of stadium goggles when I wore a non-full face helmet: comfortable, cool when it is warm, cool looking but the real deal is pricey. Of course, there probably are Chinese knock-offs but Halycons are tops...Larry

with goggles you guys really wanna watch out for china knock offs usually they use real glass all it takes is one rock and your eyes are gone. make sure before buying that they aren't!!!!

Had some cheap Chinese knock offs the first time around, while they weren't garbage, they weren't even close to the quality of the Nanninis or the Halcyons.

I paid for an upgraded lens in the Halcyons.......laminated glass, should be more scratch resistant than the poly lens, and because it's laminated, it should be OK in terms of rocks and such I think. I hope anyway.

Love that Gold Metalflake! Back in the day, my Dad, myself and my older brothers all had metalflake helmets - I had gold, Dad had silver, one brother had blue, other 2 brothers each had red, one had a custom swirly purple/silver motif - all metalflake! LOL!

But, my pet peeve is that they've done away with the two snaps on the lower sides so you can't use a 'conventional' 5-snap faceshield. My current summer helmet is a 5-snap HJC with either a clear or a tinted 5-snap shield. Perfect for me and my prescription glasses!

I love the metalflake too. When I was a kid the whole family was into snowmobiles and we all had our own metalflake helmets in different colors too. Ahh....the early 70's

You can add snaps. Get them at a fabric store, upholstery shop. or hardware store. Might void the warranty cause you have to drill a few small holes.

Looks like the shields only snap on with the top three snaps though. In the spec sheet they list that it has a strap keeper. I would have thought that they meant that little strap on the back of the helmet that holds your goggle strap, but mine doesn't have that (wish it did). Maybe they mean the chin strap?
