Rubbish and unreliable...if that were the case there would be no forum here. With minimal maintenance these engines will run forever. Many of us will attest to taking a bike from a 20+ year slumber, change the oil and fire it right up. Good luck with your project and welcome to the forum.

I think someone is "winding you up" = Teasing you, English translation.

You could not have picked a better project, good luck and enjoy, I hear you can get 100,000 miles out of these motors and they are reliable as hell!

Sometimes...the hard thing and the right thing are the same thing!

As everyone has said so far.........these bikes are probably the most reliable ever made. Parts are plentiful. Easy to maintain. If you don't feel like rebuilding yours....look on Ebay. Engines pop up all the time for cheap. I have a runner that I have owned for 11 years and just picked up a couple more for projects last year. There are people here that have owned their bikes since they were new in the 70's. Ther are also people here that own and ride multple SOHC's and other brands as well. Whoever told you they are unreliable don't know sh!t about bikes.

Dude, read this forum... I mean REALLY read it.....!!!! Do you think we'd ALL be here if ANY CB was "rubbish"... Just like any bike... If you build it right the first time and give it the love it needs, it will love you right back for years to come.....

A Honda tech of 30+ years once said to me and I quote "YOU COULD RUN SAND THOUGH THESE THINGS & THEY'D STILL RUN"

FIX it... RIDE it..........................

If the number on the engine is less than 7414 it is rubbish and unreliable, please ship it to me and I will confirm the same.  ::)
Otherwise they are rock solid and reliable.  ;D ;D

They are very easy to work on.  What ya don't know can be found here.  What you have not done to it has probably already been done here.  So, someone will be able to help or you can find it in a thread/post.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.
