..... I told myself, no more bikes and no non-650 parts until this bike is done.

I blew that rule by buying a basket case 71/72/73 CB750 yesterday

I decided to paint my breather cover.  I used flat engine paint for the base coat.  I covered that with satin black enamel.  The cover doesn't really get hot like the rest of the motor so I'm pretty confident it will be ok.  I did the same thing with my oil filter housing which held up to the 65 odd miles of riding I did on this bike in October.

Here's a better shot, the first shot with the satin looks like it bubbled.  This is coat 2 about 10 minutes after I sprayed it.

Dryness, day four.  I've been cranking it over every day a few times a day.  I watched it pump oil to the top end too, very reassuring.  I think I might retro fit my clean 750 tank to this bad boy and do some charging system testing and final leak testing with a live motor.

I've decided to reinstall the center stand.  The side stand on this bike let's it lean way over.  I'd like to be able to store it on the C-stand.

More fun.  I'm gonna pick up some self etching primer after lunch.  I can't find any epoxy paint in town.  I'm going to use the good primer and stick with my Rustoleum High Performance Semi Gloss Enamel.

I put a can of Sea Foam in my clean 750 tank. And gave it a good sloshing about.  You can see in the aerosol lid is the first couple of ounces of sea foam thru the peacock and seals.  I super super happy with this tank $255.00 off of eBay with a halfway reassembled petcock and a nice cap, super clean inside.  It's going on my K4 once it's done being a test tank

Looks great. The leaky head must common to these bikes. I've had 2 and they both leak at the same areas.

I'm pretty confident that mine was just at the cam cover.  I'll know in a few days/weeks once I start running the motor again.

I used rusty metal primer on my C stand, two coats.  I got it pretty clean but with all the pitting I figured it was a good idea to go that route.

The petcock for my test tank was a weeper.  It's a good thing I didn't leave it on my 650 overnight.  The tank only has Sea Foam in it but it still woulda sucked to get it all over my cases and have it dry there. A light gauge wire wheel and a few minutes got it nice and clean.  I have O-rings I can use for the bowl and mounting but I need the valve seal.  I ordered a complete kit.

Looks good.

If you're running that Mac 4 into 1, I'd recommend cutting down that leg on the center stand. It stick out a lot to get past the existing mufflers and you'll be banging your shin on it. Just my experience from my bike.

Should have said something earlier before you painted. ;)

These are the carbs that came on the bike.  I'm probably going to rebuild these and run them once it's all said and done.  I ordered the kits today.  I've been super careful to label everything and keep all the little o-rings.  750 carbs are ALOT simpler.

Grrrr 1 Air cut valve was super hard. I had to trash it to get it out.

I would tear those carbs apart completely and check the air cut off valves on each carb. Both bikes I had needed the cut-off valves replaced. Especially if your accelerator pump valve is a mess. I didn't do that on my cafe racer because the number 1 was in fine shape so I rode it all last summer with nothing but trouble. Took it apart this winter and no. 2-4 were pooched.

I've got a series of images of the tear down if you need them.

I already have them torn down and all the parts bagged and labelled.   The only thing I missed was the littel plastic piece in the pic below that came out of #3.  It just fell out and I didn't catch which side it come from.  Should there be 4 of these?

I paid for 4 air valves from these guys air cut off
and air accel

They ran about 15 dollars each cdn.  Where abouts are you? The company is only a 20 minute drive from where I work and I can ship them out to you cheaper. They are on fleabay but they do charge more because of the overhead charges Ebay has. The catch is I'm up in ontario so there's a 13% sales tax on stuff around here. So calculate 4 check valves and one pump at $15 each x 13%  tax comes out to about $87 bucks plus shipping. Give me a pm if that's a route you'd like to take or they probably will ship to the states.
And for the record I have used their parts in a few builds and am happy with them. No I don't work for them.  :D
As as for the the white plastic spacer. There is only 1 of those, It's for the no. 2 carb. Put it in with the tabs facing the no. 1 carb and the body on the no. 3 carb side.

When you assemble the 1-2 bodies to the 3-4 bodies. just remember that the tubes are longer between 2-3

Thanks for sorting me out on the plastic spacer.  I knew where all the spring traps were waiting but that piece was new to me.  I looked at the website and the accelerator pump kit was $15.00 USD as well.  I ordered the whole lot, $87.50 total.  I've bought stuff from those guys before via eBay, things like the carb kits I just bought for this set of carbs.  I'm glad you pointed me that way, I'll never got to eBay for carb parts again.
As far as the crossover tubes I won't get those confused, I bag everything with a description.   I appreciate your advice and input,  keep your eyes open for lots of things happening on this bike in the next 6 to 8 weeks.
