Dude, thanks. Those will help a lot. I have pics plus Clymer and the Honda service manual. I managed to catch the location on that plastic piece in #2 and I DID try to make the wrong carb the one to sync to. I have 2 done except the linkage and I have the air valve in 3. The linkage seals went back in 2 real nicely the pair for 3 shouldn't be a problem.

I didn't work on carbs as much as I would have liked today but only because I played games with aircraft stripper. The stuff is amazing. Two guys in team mode, coldies in hand it took 40 minutes to strip the rest of my tank.

Great, glad to help.

When you put that throttle shaft back in, make sure that the tabs on that washer for no. 2 is on the flat spots. Looks like they've turned on you for the shot.

I'll be rebuilding a 2nd set soon so at least there's a lot of notes going around.

I got the bike put away this morning right before the rain started. The gods of cycling smile on me with 3 days of tuning and testing runs in February. That's a huge jump on the riding season. I'm really pleased to report no significant glitches with the bike.

Today's goals are:
Get carb 3 assembled and racked back to carb 2
Install center stand
Drain carbs and gas tank
Contemplate removing the head to fix my oil leak

Pics... That second choke spring is a tough one to figure out a method. I set the floats and capped them up. I just need to assemble the other two and rack them. Working tonight.

I'm sure there's a trick to that spring but I think I ended up using a dental pick to rotate it around into tension. It can't be the way the did it back then. But the carbs are looking good.

I got my C stand on today, since I had it up in the stand I figured I'd adjust the clutch which felt great when I first got her going but was needing adjustment by the time I put it away.

Body priming and bondo work continue. I got my new gas cap today as well. I like it because it's metal instead of plastic like my original.

I just noticed your pic with the new gas cap. It kinda looks out of place with the fitting for the other cap there. Any plans to remove it?

I have the lock mechanism, I'm going to reinstall it. It would definitely be out of place otherwise.

I went into the shop today and put a consistent coat of primer on my gas tank. I was going to sort out a few minor things on the 650 but I found a nice size oil spot under the shifter. I pulled the sprocket cover off and discovered oil in the little pocket of the cover that contains the oil pump. That led to my using the ez out on 2 of the 3 6x22mm screws that hold the pump on. Of course Honda doesnt offer the 46x3mm O-ring for the base of the pump, nor do they show the pump internals or the O-ring for the cap. I'll be scouring the web and local hardware stores until I find them.

That's weird that Honda doesn't supply that o-ring. I bought two last year. Maybe they are discounting it.
Today I pulled the rocker cover off so I could fix a bolt I know was stripped and leaking. Found 3 more stripped. Luckily for me my neighbour (with a Norton, BSA, and a Triumph) just happened to have a helicoil in the size I needed.

Honda was selling the base o-ring a couple months ago, but I bought a bag of them from McmasterCarr. if you give me your address I will send you one. I have not yet found one for the cap though and need one myself.

So back to carbs.... Kinda... Been trying to get two accelerator pump circuit o-rings. My kits included those and the fuel x-over seals but only 1 for each carb. By my measurement they are 2mm ID x 1.5mm thick. Thanks to onepiece's comment about ordering o-rings I decided to order those and the cap seal for my oil pump from McMaster Carr. (duh). Once I'm sure it's correct I'll be happy to share with whomever. Just PM me your address and I'll put one in a regular letter size envelope in a parts bag.
Now today's real stumper... I'm missing one of these springs. It's from carb 4 at the knuckle in the linkage arm. I dropped it in the floor and it never came back despite magnet sweeps and rooting through the dust pan. I have another set of PD 50As but I don't want to rob parts off of them since they are currently on the bike and they are working very nicely other than they are very rich with 120 main and 44 pilots PLUS the air cut off circuits bypassed with JB weld. Can anyone give me an idea of where I can get one or 12?

I have a set of parts carbs. When I get a chance I will see if those springs are in there. If they are, I'll throw one in with the o-ring for the pump base. I'll try to get it sent out tomorrow.

CB650 you verify the size? Bike bandit lists it as 43x3.

I know 45mm is too big, so 43mm is probably close. If it is a round o-ring instead of square, 3 is too thick and will not let the cover fit down properly (at least on my 1980 oil pump).
