I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

I'd be interested in seeing what one of those actually looks like on a '73-'76K

Huh? Slipping off your seat? That's gotta be dangerous. I've never had that problem. Maybe 'cause I ride on the best seat Honda ever put on a sohc4. ;D ;D ;D

I found hanging onto the handle bars fixed the "slipping off the seat" problem..... ;D

For loung rides, have a lambskin over your seat. So comfy in cold and warm weather.

I met a guy couple of weeks back, he had his bike idling in his drive and was just going out...we got into conversation and the subject of taking the motorcycle test came up. Now in case you dont know, in the UK you can do a three day course that includes the test for around the £400.00 mark..SO you do not want to fail........
This guy, (poor sod) was taking his test...it was raining and he had (foolishly?) chose to wear a one piece waterproof... Well before the "emergency stop" was due to happen, he was riding through a built up area and a little girl stepped out fom between two parked cars....he saw her just in time and anchored on in a total "emergency stop" fashion.
He slid allong the seat and smashed his gonads on the tank (it wasnt a cb750 I might add)... He flicked the side stand down and jumped off..at the same time as jumping up and down holding his nads whilst loudly yelling "me nuts , me nuts" ( in front of said little girl who was now even more terrified) He was inwardly congratulating himself at the effectiveness of the emergency stop.
On returning to the test centre he said his nuts were still aching, but worse, he failed his test, because when that incident happened and he jumped off his bike, he had left his indicator on... obviously an oversight due to exceeding his personal pain threshold....bashed nuts and four hundred quid poorer all due to sliding along the seat caused by a one piece waterproof having no grip on his bike seat....

I am unsure as to whether this is more funny or less funny than M.magennis's tale of woe, riding his cb750 racer with a newly installed central oil tank, and having not noticed the leak that was coming from said tank on to his back tyre, just as he was outside a school, he went down onto the tarmac, ripping the arse out of his trousers... I mean, If there is one place you do NOT want to be seen picking gravel out of yoiur bare arse, it has to be a school......

In my own experience...
It wasn't a Previous Owner who didnt know what he was doing that messed up your bike, it was The Previous owners mate who THOUGHT that HE did.

Failed the test because he left his indicator on? Not passed the test because he showed that he can do an emergency stop in the rain...without running over a little girl? That's just not right. I think I'd have the inspector grabbing his nuts...know what I mean, nod nod wink wink, know what I mean?

indeed Mick, he was well pissed, anchoring on in the rain is no fun at the best of times, and in the Uk the inspector wants to see your front forks go well down... but, the rule is, you have to anchor on, then imeediately look behind you ( to make sure nothing is bearing down fast on you) then get your bike to the side of the road and park. He left his where he had stopped well in the middle of the carriageway with an indicator still on..... I mean for F***.s sake, there should be discretion allowed for unexpected gonad injury. The inspector was a man as well ( they usually are) no sympathy at all...The only good news was the guy passed second time. (with his nads intact)
