Anyone around N.W. Arkansas have a carb sync?
« on: February 18, 2011, 06:02:22 AM »
I just did a carb rebuild and now my bike is running a little...off. I've never sync (synced?) carbs before and don't have the tool to do it, so I was just wondering if there is anyone near me who may be nice enough to help me. My bike will start, but is sounds off and it's smoking a bit. My choke seems to be stuck too. I didn't have much time to fiddle with it yesterday, so the choke is probably something simple I just thought I'd throw that out there too.

Will the bike make it to Elm Springs?

I have to sync my carbs tomorrow and do some work on my wife's car. Your welcome to use my gauges and driveway if you want.

Well, I just found out that I've got family coming to town tonight, so I won't get to do anything this weekend. :-\ Thanks for the help. If you're free next weekend I'd love to come do it. One of my friends is thinking of buying gauges, so maybe he will and I can just borrow his. I'll send you a PM next week if I still need your help. Thanks again!

I just called Honda in Springdale and they won't touch it. Bill Eddy's said they're too busy since the weather got nice and it would cost $80! :o I can buy the gauges for $50.

No problem. Ozark cycle sports (I think that's the name) on rainbow curve in bentonville is the only place I know of in NWA that will work on classic bikes.  Nice guy, but makes his living working on dirt bikes and ATVs. He squeezes our older bikes in just because he likes them. Don't even bother with Honda in Springdale. They will treat you like trash unless your bike is fuel injected. Some of the guys think a carburetor is what makes your soda bubble. Honestly the ruddest people I've met.

There's a couple other places you might be able to get help, it just depends what you need.

Cool. Thanks for the tip. I too have learned (the hard way) that Honda in Springdale is full of rude jerks. FYI if you call Honda of Russellville the people are real nice. When I was rebuilding my 87 vt1100 they were very nice and helped as much as they could over the phone. I did find one guy here in Fayetteville that will work on pretty much anything. He works out of his garage, but he has a pretty sweet set up. I sent you a PM with my number in case you ever want to go for a ride.

I got my bike going great over the weekend! It turns out that I'm not as patient as I need to be. It's purring like a kitten now though. Hit me up for a ride sometime.
