RH Handlebar Switch Block Identification
« on: April 25, 2011, 05:34:56 AM »
Here's a pic of the right hand switch on my 750 F1.  It appears to be OEM, but I'm pretty sure it's not original to this bike.  It has an on-off for the lighting and a notch in the lower half for wiring external of the handlebar.  Can anyone ID what this switch belongs to?

Thanks!

Might be from an early K, before headlights were required 24x7

Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Does it have a hole in the bottom near the grip?
If so then it's likely from an earlier K.

KO were single thottle cable, had OFF , ON,
HI and had a black kill knob That is a 73 or later style, probably later looking at kill button. I think 77/78 had wiring outside the bars. Is the hole factory or PO added, check the color on edge of the hole.

It is a push/pull throttle, the wiring cutout is definitely factory, and it has a threaded hole between the cable holes (possibly a Harley-style throttle lock screw?).  I think 74 was the last year for headlight switches (I could be wrong), so I guess it's probably from a 73-74 K.

Yeah that threaded hole is for the "throttle friction adjustment screw", Honda called it something like that.
They seemed to have phased out the headlight switch in '75 as I've seen stock '75's with and without the switch.
(My K5 has the headlight switch but no adjustment screw, this version is kinda rare.)
So, looks like your control was replaced at some point.

Pre- 1976 regardless. Both 550K and 750K use the same control and had no light switch.
