Topic: What carbs have I got.

The bike is a '73 cb500. Pulled the carbs down to rebuild but cant find a kit anywheres.  The top cover gasket is the same as the 500/550 kits but those kits show a round rubber gasket for the float bowl (at least that what I take it to be) where as my float bowl gaskets look more like the later Nighthawk and some of the 750 kits with the squarer type bowls.

Where do I look for the carb number or ID stamp.

Honda did not make formed gaskets for your carbs.  The round ones fit into a groove in the float bowl and are shaped as you install them.

Each carb body is stamped on the carb mount flange top right.  S/B 627B for your bike model.

OK, thanks for the info. Geez those big O rings look like their gunna be a real #$%*.

Just push them straight down into the groove, don't follow them around the bowl, stretch them you'll be fine.
